Powderfinger gives fans control...
Powderfinger's latest tour of Australia will be somewhat interactive, with this taken from their website:
Would be interesting to see how it works out and whether it can be incorporated by more bands, including PJ.
Given that their concerts this time around are in theatres, less people may equal a vast array of different/rare song choices...
To vote on only 1 song, what would you choose....
Powderfinger website wrote:Always bringing something new to the table, fans will get the ultimate Powderfinger concert with the best of both sides of the band as they perform two, hit-filled sets - one acoustic followed by a second rock set with intermission in between.
If this wasn't enough ticket buyers will have the opportunity to choose the band's set list by voting for their favourite songs online, bringing about another layer of interactivity for the audience as they get to hone the bands acoustic and electric sets. This really is the definitive Powderfinger concert experience.

Great idea, if only Powderfinger were not incredibly boring...+--+-Official Upcoming Australasian Tour:Member #9-+--+0 -
Stone Temple Pilots are letting people vote for songs to be put on setlists for each of their shows, as well.“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’” - Kurt Vonnegut0

Bad Religion does something similar, I think its called pickrset.com or something like that and you can vote on what songs you want to hear, but of course there aren't any rare songs that you can vote for so I wonder how much different it would really be than a normal show.Take time to see the sky,
Find shapes in the clouds.
Hear the murmur of the wind
and touch the cool water.
Walk softly,
we are intruders,

That would be a disaster, the sets would always look the same with "all the hits." I don't think there'd be enough heterogeneity in audiences to really get any real variation in setlists.Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash and I’m
delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.0 -

eh idk, i think if they had like 5-6 categories....
pick 5 songs from each category with each category ranging from hits to rarities on a predetermined spectrum.... i think you'd get a nice mix.
I mean you'd still run the risk of getting some crappy sets but it would prevent some greatest hits setlists from happening if they went that route.0 -
This is an idea that could really work, certainly if they limited it to the say first half of the set or maybe first 8 tracks, or the middle portion or whatever, then let the band diversify into whatever rare bits they want to play to shake it up and fit with the songs the fans have selected.
Its not essential by any means but I love the idea of having a little input from the fans. From watching Cornice however I doubt this will ever happen, simply the band seem to put a lot into the sets and guage crowds etc, and Vedder seems quite intense on the subject, so if thats his baby perhaps we should leave it at that0 -
oh and powderfinger are so not boring, they are an excellent band, with some excellent records, and a great live experience, the guy has quite a voice and they come across as a thoroiughly grounded band.
Respect to them and for Odyssey and Vulture street.0 -

Everyone will probably wind up voting for the same songs.I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

i don't like this idea at all. the band isn't our own personal ipod. let them play what they want to.. it's their music and their show.
can't we just be happy with what they give us?i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam0
