I'm in a search for new music but popular music often doesn't quite fit me, and I usually am enthusiastic about trying to share music that I like. So why don't you post some links, here are a few:
John Butler Trio (the main guy is a guitar genious!)

I highly encourage anyone that was a Toadies fan, or not to check out Vaden Todd Lewis's band the Burden Brothers. People have inquired info on what happened to Vaden and co and he is still making music. There debut album "Buried in your Black Heart is great, and they are getting ready to release "Mercy on October 31rst. Even if you were not a Toadies fan, check these guys out, they sound nothing like the Toadies and they are without a doubt one of the better rock bands of the last 6 years.

The Tragically Hip.
They're my favorite band of all time and I'll gladly spread the gospel about them until the day I die. They're not very well-known outside of their home country of Canada and it's a complete mystery as to why, because I think they're easily one of the best rock bands on the planet. Lead singer/songwriter Gord Downie is arguably the best frontman in the biz, and they put on an absolutely killer live show that is second to none. Here are some links:

With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

Yeah the Hip are my second favorite band, they're doing four shows in a row here in Vancouver at the commodore ballroom, small venue for a huge band...i believe Pearl Jam played there when i was a young lad
(but sad that i missed it) anyways, sadly i missed out on pre-sale, hopefully i can sang some on the general on-sale date...or ill be scalping FOR SURE.
i cannot stop the thought.......running in the dark

nice one! i'd highly recommend John Butler Trio to anyone. An aussie guy i worked with gave me their album Sunrise Over Sea and i must admit i was really impressed. Great album, great band.die on a hilltop.. eyeing the crows,

JBT are a great band, saw them live last year too.
I'd recommend a British band called Porcupine Tree. They're freaking awesome, they get pigeonholed as a Radiohead-esque prog-rock throwback but they're actually just a fantastic modern rock band.0 -
In all of the MySpace spam, I found this band that I seem to like quite a bit (although I've literally only heard the four tunes on their page - will check out more when I get a chance:

One of my absolute favorites that I rarely hear anyone talk about:
Kathleen Edwards
Both her "Back to Me" and "Failer" albums are excellent. She's opened for bands like MMJ and DBT, so if that tells you anything... more folk than rock, however...0 -
MAGMA CHILD!
Not signed yet.. won't be long. Self taught on their instruments talented guys

Agreed, Porcupine Tree is just awesome. Check "Arriving Somewhere But Not Here"... 12 minutes of musical bliss.
Also, as I've done in other threads, I'd like to recommend The Gathering (http://www.gathering.nl). Just a freaking awesome Dutch band.Mexico City - July 17th 2003
