Jimmy Flemion of The Frogs - he has dozens and dozens of unreleased, excellent songs - he is one of the lesser-knowns but one day after he's dead he'll become a fucking legend - just like Nick Drake - just you wait and see.

"when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will be at peace"-Jimi Hendrix
Not to be a Debbie Downer but Leonard Cohen is dead y'all.
I'm surprised it's not a unanimous Dylan at no. 1. Van Morrisson is right up there. I liked the Neil Finn reference, I'd definitely put him in my top five. Did anyone mention Jeff Buckley?

no, Plant wrote almost all the song lyrics. the only songs that Page wrote the lyrics for were Tangerine from Zep III and Dazed And Confused (from his Yardbird days). it's a common misconception that Plant didn't write any lyrics on Zeppelin I because he isn't credited as a writer on any of the songs. this was because Plant was still under contract with another label and couldn't have his name on Zep credits yet. newer pressing of the album do however list him as writer on Babe I'm Going to Leave you
Edit: oh and Roger Waters is my pick for this thread's topic

but surely, neither Page nor Plant wrote those lyrics. Didn't that turn out to be just an old trad blues number, that they reworked ?...Like most of the first album (or two).
