Alice In Chains Working on New Material

I'll be very interested to see whether they actually do keep the name or not. I thought they'd previously said that they were "interested in working on new material but not as Alice In Chains".0

I'm not a huge AiC fan, but I like them enough to agree when people say they shouldn't use the AiC name for their new stuff. I say get a new name, branch out, and start over again. Fresh air. It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win0

This is very cool. They can stay AIC for all I care, and especially if they plan on playing old material. That would be lame playing AIC songs for 80% of the night under another name.
It's just like AC/DC and Van Halen, and currently Blind Melon.0 -
i'm lookin foward to this!"Makes much more sense to live in the present tense." Ed Ved
"No one cares about climbing stairs, Nothing at the top no more." Chris Cornell0 -

If they have any artistic integrity, they'll release this album under a new name.0 -
they should call themselves Alice Sans Chains.Jam out with your clam out.0

Billy Corgan is a control freak. He basically worte Siamese Dream by himself. I would be shocked if Jimmy Chamberlain had 1 writing credit to his name, maybe on Mellon Collie since it was a double album.
Well, we dont know how much each member contributes exactly as we arn't in the band0 -
Any of the motherfuckers here who are trash talking and saying that without Layne this is just another Cantrell album or whatever obviously didn't see this band live. I'd love them to keep the name, after last years tour being such a tribute to Layne I think keeping the name is an extension of that. Last year in TO they played a new song and it was great - every intermission had video tributes to Layne and I could swear in some songs they had Laynes voice sample doing backing.
The people who are smacking this up are the same people who refused to go see them because of them touring under the name Alice in Chains, I trust the bands decision more than peolpe who turned their back on a show simply due to a bands name.0 -
I wasn't gonna add my 2 cents but I agree with gibbits! I got to see them last November and we were so happy to hear them sounding so damn good. William is a great front man, as we'd seen him back in 03 opening for Jerry, and he just melted in with the guys and really rocked the house!!! Whatever name they'll go by with the new material, I'll buy it!!0

Layne was great and will be missed but obviously you haven't seen the live band the new singer is a dead ringer (no pun intended) I am now anxious for new material, and btw it is nothing like an cantrell solo album, he has the rest of aic with him (I know he did on the first solo album as well) but he wrote 95% of the aic library0 -

Right fuck this, here goes:
Jerry wrote pretty much all the music
He wrote much of the lyrics
He sang on some tracks as well!!
It pretty much was HIS band, so can this "Without Layne it's not Alice horseshit"
Layne was a one-off, he was awesome, noone is trying to replicate what he did
All this bashing stems from ignorance regarding the new line up and also how the band worked when Layne was with them, I doubted they'd be more than a parody of what they once were but I was lucky enough to catch them with DuVall live and they were fantastic.~*~*~*~*PROUD EVENFLOW PSYCHO #0026~*~*~*~*
