  • Agreed - incredibly inspired stuff. I was listening to the song Superunknown the other day, despite having heard that song hundreds of times I was still blown away by the sheer power of the music, Cornell's voice is obscenely good on that album.

I just recently revisited this album again as well.

I don't really care for the last 4 songs. They're OK, but everything else (except for maybe Head Down) is superb. I love Kim's solo on the title track, and Limo Wreck RULES.

I agree. SG was one of the most creative rock bands of the time.

    I love Half.

Me too, great song, even better live

Superunknown is a perfect album, from start to finish, every single song is great.

BY FAR the best SG album... I used to think DotU was better because I listened to it more, but once I started listening to Superunknown more and more, I realized the masterpiece that it really is. The only song that grew old pretty quickly is My Wave... I always seem to skip it, but it's by no means a bad song. It just feels like it would be better on Badmotorfinger.

Brilliant album, and one of my all-time favorites.

Personally, I prefer Badmotorfinger, but it may have to do with how much of an impact it had on me at the time and my strong associations with ten and Nevermind tied to that record.
Superunknown, was also excellent, but in many ways marked the beggining of the end and the extreme popularization of something we felt we were in on from the ground floor.

I've been to alot of Pearl Jam shows; So fucking what.

how the hell can you not like Fresh Tendrils, 4th of July and Like Suicide? they are by far the best songs on the album. especially 4th of july. chris' best ever lyrics
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

this was the first 'rock' album i really listened to. i still remember buying the tape and making my mom listen to it in the car on a 3 hour car ride. despite overkill on the radio of 4 songs or so, this record still hits me every time i listen to it. one of the best of the decade, without question.

"Like Suicide", "4th of July", "Limo Wreck", "Let Me Drown", "Head Down" etc all rule. only one i don't like is "Fresh Tedrils" never got into that one.

bought it the day it came out by the way. still gets spins today.

I love the primal energy to Badmotorfinger, but some of Kim's solos on Superunknown are AMAZING - like suicide, need I say any more?

I always loved the guitar in that song and "Half"... for songs that are maybe overshadowed by the rest of the album
