ok. anyone got any ideas? what im after is a single channel, all valve head with reverb and an fx loop. The reason i want a single channel is that im sick of channel switching on my marshall and i only ever use pedals these days so my od channel never gets used. I want something thats primarily giggable but that i could if possible use at room level. Im dying to get that crunchy clipping valve sound
It`ll be a few months yet before i seriously start looking and at the moment im just trying out ideas. I play alot of alternative, indy (snow patrol, smithsy kinda stuff) but i also love high gain biting rocky sounds (not really metal though) at home i primarily play alot of blues stuff and try working out new soundscapey kinda ideas for the band. Budget i`ll be looking at will be about £800 uk MAX. I use mainly a les paul clone with seymour duncans, USA telecaster and my lovely new usa strat

I'm not saying stupidity should be a capital offence, but what say we take the safety labels off everything and let nature run it's course?

go by these guys place http://www.matamp.co.uk. They are absolutely fantastic and it's build to order. They will have something for you.
most are easily found under 800 pounds used. They are rated (power) very conservatively. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -
ok they are nice
thing is id really wanna try one before i buy or commit and living down in cornwall i dont there are gonna be many sitting around in local shops :( they all seem to sell marshalls or horrid line 6 digital modelling amps :( ive been offered a Laney (dunno what model ive got the memory of a cracked sieve) but i think it may be a bit too metally for me....

What kind of amps do you like?
The Matamp is an excellent suggestion.0 -
i love the bright clean sounds of fender amps and nice gritty overdriven distortion as opposed to loud metal amps.I'm not saying stupidity should be a capital offence, but what say we take the safety labels off everything and let nature run it's course?0

The Matamp range are probably some of, if not THE best made amps on the planet. if only i could afford one! i wouldnt even hesitate handing over the ££ for one of those bastards. It would be last amp i ever bought if i did.
Have you thought about a used Mesa?
or a Cornell?
hmmmmm...Cornell....

Look for something in a 6L6 or 5881 Power tube configurationMy Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -
Matamps are built very well, but they are hardly the best built amps on the planet.
Have you ever seen the guts of a Komet, Wizard, or Harry Joyce? How about a Germino or a Roccafortte? That's where I set the bar0 -
