    nothing's going to imitate it since it's rhythmic.

    the only thing that might sort of capture that kind of feel would be a delay pedal with the echo level up to match the dry guitar sound and the repeats set to only repeat once.

    The DL 4 has a rhythmic delay mode, but even then I don't know if it will work.
    My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

    I was thinking a decent imitation would be a tremelo pedal set correctly followed by a slight delay... wouldn't be the same but it would be good enough.

    come to think of it since you mentioned tremolo, i once did something similar with a tremolo effect fed into a hard noise gate setting such that only the peaks of the waves got through.


    of course, it was an acoustic guitar, playing normally, but into my amp with a fairly intense tremolo effect and then all the gating was done in my recording software.

    There's a thread on drum machines here where this came up. I *think* this (might?) be what's going on for the "You Are" sound.

    If a drum machine was used, my guess is Stone used it in conjunction with a noise gate. Meaning that he programmed a beat in the machine, and set it up so that whenever a drum "note" was present the noise gate his guitar signal was going through would 'open' and let guitar sound play for the duration of the phantom drum note. (Only guitar is going to the amp, drum input is just a noise gate trigger).


    I guess the trick would be to find a noise gate or filter with an external sound input trigger, and then just use the drum machine as the trigger.

    A MAM Warp 9 or something like that could do the trick.

    In terms of simpler "close enough" solutions I think a Zvex seek Wah might get one into the ball park with some pretty good seats by third.

    I use the Digital delay from digitech but it's not what Stone uses. I also uses a Sansamp for his distortion on that.

    Oh yeah! The Adrenalinn... You know I actually have one... (V1) and I hardly ever use it because it's this one box with like five tiny knobs... that basically happens to do EVERYTHING.

    That thing really is the ultimate Swiss Army knife for guitar players.
