too bad there isn't a 2 10" or 2 12" version.
No clue, friend of mine just sent the link, he didn't have any information.
I'm going thru a bad A$$ avatar 2x12, with a G12H-30 and a vintage 30. Nice and big.E. Lansing-98 Columbus-00,03,10 Detroit-00,03 (1&2),06, 14 Cleveland-03,06,10 Toledo-04, Grand Rapids-04,06 London-05, Toronto-05, Indianapolis 10, East Troy (1&2) 11, Chicago 13, Detroit 14

First "band" I was in when I was getting started. The guitar player was playing his Peavey Classic 50 thru a single 15 tweed peavey cabinet. And he would have the bass knob cranked. Back then I only had a Peavey TKO 115 80 watt solid state bass amp. I'd have that thing cranked, and the high's cranked just so I could slightly sort of here what I was playing.
Excuse me Mr. Guitar player, would you mind turning back those lows so that I could possible here what I was doing?E. Ha ha, I used to rock one of those TKO's too in a jazz band when I first started playing bass. I only had a guitar wah pedal but it was still good fun on the high notes for solos.
Sometimes the 15" guitar speakers can be down right shrill on the highs. I'd definately have to have a beam blocker.
I wonder what a 4x10 Ampeg HLF cab would sound like on guitar. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -

You know Peavey actually had a good preamp section in that combo. My buddy's studio has the rack mount version of that pre-amp, and I'll admit it. I've used it more than once. Heck if we are jamming over there, I usually don't bother brining anything, I'll just plug direct into that.
As for what would a guitar amp would sound like going thru that cabinet. I could find out for you. I have that cabinet. I just have to replace a speaker in it (I'll need a little time for that one, I'm on a allowance on what I'm allowed to spend, the wife runs the show).E. oh yeah the amp and preamp was solid, my problem was the speaker since it was ragged to death being a school unit. When we jammed I'd just pull down the 12" peavey PA speakers and that was sufficient.
That bass cab is one of my favorites of all time, I hope it sounds cool with the JR if you get a chance to replace the speaker. Does it need reconing or a new voice coil?My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -

Reconing. I already have it a shot and it didn't last very long.E. Lansing-98 Columbus-00,03,10 Detroit-00,03 (1&2),06, 14 Cleveland-03,06,10 Toledo-04, Grand Rapids-04,06 London-05, Toronto-05, Indianapolis 10, East Troy (1&2) 11, Chicago 13, Detroit 14

All Those Yesterdays wrote:Here is the latest. The big problem with doing so many changes in a row (even though hearing what they did each time) is that you ears get so used to things, and you don't notice it. The amp days later when plugging it back in seems way to bright for my needs. yesterday went back in and did the following:
R1: back to the stock 68K
C3: down to 2.2 uF
R9: down to 1K
Now I have my tight punch back, not to bright and most of the flabbiness out of the low end when cranked. A little of it is still their, but I'm at a happy medium. I won't use the amp on kill most of the time any ways, usually around 1 to 3 oclock.
I didn't get around to doing sound samples on thursday, we were to busy trying to get a organ track down. Hopefully this thursday I'll be able to jump on some tracks.
Here is the latest mods. Noticed when I'd get into humbucker pick-up guitars, that there was some still some flabbiness on the low end starting around 3 oclock.
C3 & C4 are now up to 4.7 uF
I have a Jpeg of my schematic changes if anyone is interested.E. Lansing-98 Columbus-00,03,10 Detroit-00,03 (1&2),06, 14 Cleveland-03,06,10 Toledo-04, Grand Rapids-04,06 London-05, Toronto-05, Indianapolis 10, East Troy (1&2) 11, Chicago 13, Detroit 14

All Those Yesterdays wrote:Thanks! Is it worth it though, or just buying the replacement?
oh I don't know, it's probably just as easy to buy a replacement, it's just a bit cheaper I'd think to get it repaired depending on the problem. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -

Yeah that is true. And depending on the speaker. If its some $200 green back, I'd be getting fixed. But if its a $65 Eminence, then that isn't really worth the hassle etc...E.
