    fantastic...i've been arguing with my 'friend' about this song for months!!!

    it is one of the best in my opinion, whether its 'soft' or not...ace.

    i just had to post in response to kosmicjelli.....if indeed you feel this way.......you are NEVER too old to change your life for the better, not ever. btw - you are younger than me, yes i looked ;)....and i certainly feel far from old, and my life holds much promise and opportunity ahead. it truly is how you see it. i am sorry you have gone through all this, but it can make you a stronger woman....and you CAN find your betterman if you so desire. or at the very least, find your happiness within yourself, be your own woman. best of luck. :)

    I think the problem may be that because they play it at nearly every show people think it's overplayed. It loses some of the magic I guess when it's played so often but I still love it. I personally can never hear this song too often.

    I think Betterman is an incredible song. It's so beautiful, and it's such a great song live. I don't care how much it was overplayed on the radio, it's still a great song. How can any Pearl Jam fan not absolutely love Betterman? It brings a smile to my face each and every single time I hear it.

    And for those who complain that Pearl Jam plays it too often in concert, you're going to far too many shows! :)

    Such an awesome song, one of my all time favourites. The crowd at Reading were so loud when they sang it, I had goosebumps all over!

    glad i finally found someone's version. was lucky enough to be at this concert and i still love listening to it. best version of betterman ive heard yet. could never figure out all the lyrics. never really sat down and tried until i saw yours and sat down to put them up against the music. still not clear on all of it, but here is what i get from it:
