Feels like money in the bank"
Is it just me or is this the cheesiest/lamest/corniest (w/e you wanna call it) line Eddie has ever written?

Yea - it's pretty bad. "I never knew soap made you taller" is lame, as well.0 -

i cringe when i hear it. my least favorite line from "gone" by far.
I like it better when the lyrics are more indirect........this latest album seemed to ignore that aspect. Probably my only complaint with the album come to think of it.0 -

I think that line is an attempt at a nod to
When i'm watchin' my tv
And that man comes on to tell me
How white my shirts can be
But he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me
I can't get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that's what i say0 -
it's "Gone". not much good has come form that song.0

It just paints the right word picture and conveys the feeling perfectly to me. I can *see* the feeling.
But then I'm also especially fond of the song."I'm here to see Pearl Jam."- Bono

not really, when U think about how much the fuel in this case means to the guy getting away from the place he needs to get away from. i like it.I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.0 -
I think Gone was defnitely an experiement. It sounded like he was trying for a tone that was not natural within him. With a little twist here and a little twist there his natural passion would be obvious. It's more of a Jeff tune . . . the man within the world, and the world is not a part of him, and reviewing while in transit . . . Nothingman is behind the wheel of the car in Gone. There is no such thing as leftover pizza. There is now pizza and later pizza. - anonymous

ok This line hasn't ever made me Cringe per-say but it always makesme laugh..
the part in Save You where Ed sings "why are ya hitting yourself, C'mon hit me instead" The day that cd came out, I went and bought it naturally, and as is my tradition I drove around while I listened to it ( the tradition is to drive during the entire first listen if not the second third and fourth,, for Riot Act it was Nine..I actually ran out of gas and had to swicth from car stereo to portable CD player while I walked to go get gas), well when it got to that part I was at this really fucked up intersection in the town where I lived.. and he sings that part and I just started laughing my ass off.. For some reason still unbeknownst to me.. the part in Steel Magnolias popped into my head!! that part where the mom is yelling "I just want to hit something!!!" and her friend grabs HER firend and holds the lady in front of herself and says "here hit weeza " and ever since.. that's what I think of when I hear that line.. don't know why.. but it stuck!!0 -

Might be just me though, because I love the song. What is it that you don't like about it? I like it.0 -

Well, I've always liked that line--felt that it stands out from the song. Maybe that's why it may sound somewhat corny with the rest of the song's poetic flow?---I don't know. I kind of see what you're sayin', but in the end, I like that line. I think it really speaks to people, like myself, with little money and a huge gas bill. Ya know?--the people that live paycheck to paycheck so, as a result, every cent spent is taken seriously.0 -

I agree. I like the line. I think the people who think it's lame or cheesy think so because they feel it's some kind of political message, but I don't think that's the point. It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win0 -

This is one of the funniest references on here for me! Haha.
We could sell tickets - who wants to take a wack a Weeza!
Thanks for the chuckle. We're still making records for people who listen to it all the way through, eyes closed, in that space.0 -
I dont really think its cheesy in the slightest. I know when im having a bad day and I just can't stand being with people anymore my car always saves the day.. aslong as she's full of gas! theres something about driving around with some musik on that makes everything feel better0
