This is one of my favorite PJ songs. It really does seem like it can apply to a range of losses, and not just loss in the dying sense. When my husband was in Iraq, this had so much meaning for me. I'd be in my apartment parking lot, blast this one, and have tears rolling down my face before Eddie even started singing. I love this song.0

it's my favorite song off PJ. I was (still am) trying to get over a girl that really shook up my world when I 1st heard it and now everytime I hear it it makes me think of that. I only listen to it when I'm feeling in one of those moods.0

i hear you on this one!
i think about all the people in or have left my life, moments, and just life in general
the song strikes a chord of reflection, and its very emotional..i tear up listening to it..no denial here0 -
it's much like Black to me. Black is my favorite PJ song, but if I listen to it in the right type of mood it really brings me down. It's really the opposite of what your favorite song should do for you...but oh well0

I'm usually in the musicians and gearheads but the title of this thread sparked a nerve...Come Back and Black bring the water works to me. They strike a chord with an even that happened one year ago, this month...wow...so beautiful yet so painful...Grand Rapids '04, Detroit '06

there must be an open door ... for you ... to come back
my favorite part.everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do0 -
My favorite song from the Pearl Jam album.. I flew to Washington from Massachusetts in hopes of hearing it live.. but no..**find what you love, love what you find**0
-
I love this song...it gets me every time.0

mine too. It's like you want to move on but you don't want it fully out of your life. You still hold out some bit of hope.0 -

Im not big on crying.. but i get tears even hearing the opening chords to this one... Makes me sad that i can't listen to it that often
If I keep holding out,... will the light shine through?
Under this broken roof,... it's only rain that I feel
I've been waiting out the days,... Come Back.
I have been planning out,... All that I'd say to you
Since you slipped away,... Know that I still remain true
I've been wishing out the days,..
Please say, that if you hadn't of gone now
I wouldn't have lost you another way
From wherever you are,.... Come Back.
And these days, they linger on
And I'm the night, as I'm waiting on
The real possibility I may meet you in my dream
I go to sleep
If I don't fall apart,.... will the memories stay clear
So you had to go,......... and I had to remain here
But the strangest thing to date
So far away
And yet you feel so close
And I'm not gonna question it any other way
There must be an open door
For you to
Come Back
And the days, they linger on
And every night, what I'm waiting for
Is the real possibility I may meet you in my dream
And sometimes you're there
And you're talking back to me
Come the morning I could swear you're next to me
And it's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
I'll be here
Come Back
Come Back
I'll be here
Come Back
Come Back
I'll be here
Come Back
Come Back

The thing i love about this song, is obviously, there is a very sad tone. Its a tone that could mean your boyfriend just tore your heart to shreads, a loved one passed away, or even missing something random! (like pearl jam shows, hint hint) And everyone has had something that they wish would come back... international lyrics are the way to go!
I can't listen to the last three tracks from avocado. Hearing them live is ok, but not the studio versions. I have my reasons.0 -
.................the song. the song is amazing0

I know its only rock and roll but I like it"Stunned by my own reflection, It's looking back, sees me too clearly and I swore I'd never go there again, Not unlike a friend that politely drags you down, down, down"
When you see me on the street, yell out "FAVO!!!"
I've been to alot of Pearl Jam shows; So fucking what.0 -

it created the same effect on me after a while.Through the middle part ,you feel like you won't be able to hold your tears if you go on listening.but it's such a beautiful song.i cannot imagine any other music to replace it.0

I'm glad the crying over that song phase passed.I was swimming in the Great Barrier Reef
Animals were hiding behind the Coral
Except for little Turtle
I could swear he's trying to talk to me

this album came out right before my dad left us. and to tell the truth, i loved the song when i first heard it, then i thought it was the weakest song on the album. then i loved it again. after my dad died, it became kinda hard for me to hear.
i still plan on playing this for him someday. that will be emotional, im sure. trying to sing and cry is not that easy. im really afraid of just choking up so bad that words wont come out.
great song, and im glad that i got over my thinking it was the weakest of the album.
miss ya pops.
