Neil Young Archives Volume IV Taking Shape As Unreleased Music From 1987 To 2004 Emerges

The Pearl Jam collaboration Mirror Ball also generated extensive recording activity beyond the album itself, much of which remains unheard.

I'm guessing the lack of NY releases this year (vs the past few years) is probably more to do with how much HAS come out and the volume at which its moving in retail.

Vol 3 of the archives still hasn't sold out (vs how quickly vol 1 and the first run of vol 2 did).

    Happy Birthday, Mirror Ball!
Mirror Ball was released on June 27, 1995.
Jeff Ament talked about recording the album with Neil Young:
“There’s a few songs that I listen to now and think ‘Oh man, I wish we could have had a whole day on that’, but it was such a whirlwind recording. In some ways the record was about Neil coming to terms with Kurt’s death — so obviously there’s some parallels there, too, to Temple of the Dog. They’re like sister albums in a way. And touring that record with Neil was probably the most fun tour I’ve ever done. It was a real dream.”
All the lead vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar, pump organ, and all the music and lyrics, are credited to Neil Young.
    #PearlJam’s credits are:
    Bass – Jeff Ament
    Drums – Jack Irons
Guitar – Mike McCready, Stone Gossard
    Backing Vocals – Eddie Vedder

"Neil is the only one who would be a big fan of the band and then get rid of Eddie." How Pearl Jam and Neil Young came together to make Mirror Ball

The grunge superstars learned a lot when they teamed up with the rock veteran to make his 1995 album, but they regret not putting their name on it

From today's Patron call with Neil:

Will the Dublin 1995 movie with Pearl Jam be in Archives Volume 4?
I don't know. It qualifies, but we don't want Volume 4 to be as large as Volume 3 was, so we're picking and choosing.

Vol 3 isn't selling because its so expensive, driven by the number of blu-ray movies in the set. I can see them wanting to pair it back.

Also, Mirrorball live will sell way more than the Archives 4, so they should do a stand alone release.

    Indeed.
