MLB 2026 Season

Other than the split season in 1981 and the shortened 2020 season. No team with a losing record in a full season has made the playoffs. Could this be the year?

Today in the Yankee game, they score nine times without a homer since the Rangers struggle in the outfield, especially on balls to left field.

Is Langford playing left now?

He's on the IL and Nimmo's lingering hamstring forced him to DH. So they put Joc Pederson in right to start the game and Osuna entered in the middle of the game and the Yankees hit almost everything to him in the sixth.

Didn’t want to make a separate thread, but thought I’d put it here. Both Ted Turner and Bobby Cox passed away this week.

As a long time Atlanta resident, there is no professional baseball in Atlanta without Ted Turner. My parents took me to Fulton County stadium many a time when there was no one in the lower decks and you could occasionally talk to players in the dugout. We watched TBS every summer on a black and white tv on our screened in porch. Turner’s money and tv station kept the Braves here when any other sane person would have sold and moved the team.

I was thrilled beyond belief in ‘91 when the Braves went on their run to the World Series, where they lost a legendary game 7 by one run. I skipped school and we went to a parade for the non winning Braves that was attended by hundreds of thousands of people.

Bobby Cox led the Braves to 14(!) consecutive division titles. 5 NL pennants and 1 Word Series victory in ‘95. He was famously ejected 165 times while arguing for his players. He was a steady presence in the dugout for over a decade, and when it was time to come out to the mound, you’d see his little shuffle as me made the walk out.

Would I have enjoyed more World Series victories? Absolutely! But the Braves had an incredible run from the ‘90s into the ‘00s and what a blessing for the city. Cox even mentored Brian Snitker who gave us another WS recently and managed our current manager.

Thank you, Ted Turner, and especially Bobby Cox.

It's wild if you look at the roster of the Yankees in about 1968, Bobby Cox played 135 games and Dick Hower played 85 games for them.

Yes! Cox even played with Mickey Mantle!

He also tells a story about working in the front office for the Yankees where a friend called to get tickets to a game, and Cox said he’d try but Steinbrenner was really stingy with tickets so probably not. Then, Steinbrenner tapped him on the shoulder! 😂

Well said! I’m a lifelong west coast Braves fan in huge part to these two gentlemen. Passing so close together makes you think maybe somebody upstairs is building a team. Finally getting to visit Atlanta last year for the PJ shows and some ballgames was a childhood dream come true. I got a real kick out of how much emphasis the guide for our Truist Park tour put on how the Braves lead the Yanks in almost every all time stat other than WS championships 😆.

Nice! So glad you made it to Truist! I was sad they left Turner Field and downtown, but it is a nice stadium, and I know the surrounding properties pull in a lot of money for the organization.

That’s awesome to hear about the Yankees! I say that with begrudging respect, as those World Series were brutal.

He might as well just stay in Anaheim. The weather is nicer.

PCA has the toolset to be great, just needs to figure the voodoo out. And learning how to catch baseballs could be useful. Maybe a 1980's Susan Sarandon or some live chickens are required?

Central is going to be a barn-burner this year. Every team is within a week of taking the lead if they get hot and the other teams are not.

Im not an atlanta resident, and not really a Braves fan.... but i know all this to be true. Mainly because I was mainlined TBS starting at a young age.

I also know the shit out of the munsters, bewitched, looney tunes, Gilligans island, Andy Griffith, and saved by the bell
