The Savannah Bananas put 102,000 butts in seats at College Station on Saturday ... I'm not sure MLB could do that with a Game 7 of the World Series.

I'm for anything that gets kids interested in baseball, even if it is a version of the Harlem Globetrotters.  Let them enjoy baseball before they get older, pledge allegiance to a team like the Mets, and have their souls slowly ripped apart over a 162 game season.  :*
I love them bananas.  The games are entertaining.

How about the Japanese invasion we have going on?  Two rookies hitting HR's.

    Murakami and Okamoto.

I knew about Murakami but Okamoto is a pleasant surprise.

I just read an article on the Savannah Bannas, and they say they're not like the Harlem Globetrotters because their results aren't fixed.

No.  They are clearly trying to pursue a different model.

They have established a few unique teams with their own characters and identity.  Now they are moving toward a league type model where the bananas arent even in every game.  This opens up the possibility of playoffs, all stars, championship, etc.

Probably the best hope to sustain the novelty and reach another level of growth.

They're like the Globetrotters in that they put on a show. The Globetrotters did tricks and joke around. The Bananas do tik tok dances

Baseketball would probably be the better comparison for the Bananas  ;)

I would go to see them play, but not for what the resale market wants.

15-2 last 17 for the Yankees, so perhaps a rematch of the 1932 and 1938 World Series.

    F the Cubs.
2 walk offs in a row against my favorite Redlegs team.  Not much hope as a Reds fan but they gave some good players.  Won't spend enough to matter and their 2 best pitchers on IL.
    Shit.

Can't believe your boys scored 4 in the 9th
    And still managed to lose.
    Geez
Your pitcher with the hamstring issue? Yeah, that kind of looked painful.

He's probably most popular guy on the team, too.

That 10th inning on Wednesday was funny. Busch wasn't granted the challenge because he didn't tap his helmet quick enough. Counsell runs out to argue and says "Oh my god" to what he was hearing. Next pitch he wins it on a walk.

Today in the Yankee game, they score nine times without a homer since the Rangers struggle in the outfield, especially on balls to left field.
