Anyone is qualified to comment on the situation in our country because it affects their country too.... please.. comment all you like.rw160510 said:Thanks Gimme and Gotthe. It is what it is from our perspective in terms of a missed gig, not the end of the world but a shame. I’m pleased we paused on buying flights and hotels (we were waiting for the holiday sales) I don’t feel qualified enough to offer additional comment on the situation over there and it’s probably not my place even if I did. I lurk in some of these threads from time to time to try and get a handle or perspective on events that impact the UK and everywhere else so I thank you and everyone who contributes. Hopefully there’s a course correction in the not too distant future and people will see the current state of populist world politics as another cautionary tale. Stay safe.
I don't feel that we'll ever go back to a true democracy thanks to the damage fuckhead and project 2025 have done and continue to do.

I'm wondering now if trump gave an order to bomb Iran's oil fields and the military refused. Something is really odd with the threats and immediate retreat.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

i am sorry to rw160510. i imagine it would be like me having tickets to the first oasis reunion show and having to cancel due to turmoil in their country. i do not feel like at these times anything is worth the risk."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

wait, you mean it wasn't the perfect talks trump says they had that iran publicly denies that did this??Gern Blansten said:I'm wondering now if trump gave an order to bomb Iran's oil fields and the military refused. Something is really odd with the threats and immediate retreat.
i think you are giving the military brass too much credit. bombing oil fields is a war crime, and things like that have never stopped us before. the military brass could not even convince trump that the first thing iran would do is close the straight of hormuz leading to global economic issues like we are seeing right now."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

The U.S. military has planned, prepared, and trained for the closing of the Strait for more then 40 years. Whoever is running this shit show completely ignored this. They also completely discounted the very idea that Iran might/would do it. There was NO risk management assessment done in the immediate lead up to this.gimmesometruth27 said:

my first question would be, in what timeline, would iran NOT close the strait?Bentleyspop said:

we are dealing with amateurs here.
of course there was no risk management assessment done. trump just trusted netanyahu and apparently hegseth."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Clearly they are not familiar with the Iranian culture.
The firing/purging/retirement of LOTS of top military brass have left a vacuum of common sense and experience.
The brain drain could take decades to rebuild.0 -

Because of the 12 day war the Iranians went and hid all of their enriched Uranium. They did have 60% enriched but do not know its whereabouts now. That is enough to make a dirty bomb or a crude nuclear bomb.
I don't even know why we agreed to them having nuclear capabilities in the first place. Piss them off and off the rails they went.
Trump also wants to pay off the companies that leased the oceans for windmills. He wants to further pursue Oil exploration and production.0 -
almost like Obama's Iran deal shouldn't have been trashed in the first place.
his entire mandate is to do the opposite of obama. it's really unrealYour boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0 -
yeah trump set a precedent with that bullshit...basically that any agreement made by a president could just be cancelled on a whim
so why bother?Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)
