All the illegals trying to enter the country through customs at airports must be quaking in their boots.

    i agree. good on them.

any american that serves this vile administration in any capacity in any other country should know that they are on their own and should expect everything that happens to them.
I wonder, do you really mean this?  Does this apply to people that were serving before and intend to serve after this president or just those handpicked by him?

    i do mean it.

i am referring to anybody working for this administration in any role overseas that was alive and paying attention during the first term and then said "yeah, i am gonna work in the second trump administration." they should have known better.
It’s unreasonable to expect people to be able to just up and quit cuz they don’t like the prez. Or to even expect them to want to even if they could.

For some it might even be MORE important to stay to try to add some humility to the admin where they can. Especially in areas where compassion is needed most, like assisting fellow citizens on foreign soil who now may be subject to undo harassment through no fault of their own.

While I understand people resigning in protest, it just makes more room for more sycophants.
Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer

We were planning on going  to see Bon Jovi at MSG in July which is a bucket list show for my wife. We are not going to make that show unfortunately. Even as white, middle income, middle class Brits it just doesn’t seem worth the risk. Such a messed up situation from the outside looking in.

What we're already seeing is ICE terrorizing people in airports.  And they won't even produce ID to prove they are really ICE:

ICE agents seen 'terrorizing' woman and child at SFO, Calif. senator says

The widely circulated footage has since caused furor online

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents caused outrage at the San Francisco International Airport on Sunday night after appearing to restrain a crying woman in front of her child, footage shows.

In one video posted on social media, a crowd of people hold up their phones while others shout at a row of San Francisco Police Department officers who appear to be standing guard and aiding the ICE agents as they conduct the enforcement. Behind them, two men in plainclothes can be seen dragging the woman into a blue wheelchair while she visibly struggles. Handcuffs appear to dangle from her wrist.

these people need to know up front that if they are in another country and dumbass does something like start a war in the region, the government is not getting them out. they are on their own. as proven by what happened in the middle east recently.

i have none, zero sympathy for anybody choosing to work for the trump government. people are a reflection of who they work for, and if they want the stain or not, the stain doesn't wash off.

man i am so sorry to hear that. it breaks my heart. something so doable can't happen now because of one man and his policies towards people not born here. it is such a shame how far we have fallen. i swore it wouldn't happen in my lifetime, and it has happened in less than a decade under dump.

Thanks Gimme and Gotthe. It is what it is from our perspective in terms of a missed gig, not the end of the world but a shame. I’m pleased we paused on buying flights and hotels (we were waiting for the holiday sales) I don’t feel qualified enough to offer additional comment on the situation over there and it’s probably not my place even if I did. I lurk in some of these threads from time to time to try and get a handle or perspective on events that impact the UK and everywhere else so I thank you and everyone who contributes. Hopefully there’s a course correction in the not too distant future and people will see the current state of populist world politics as another cautionary tale. Stay safe.
