With the rise of oil prices - and therefore gas / fuel- I fully expect flights to become more expensive now. Perhaps if the budget allows, book now?

No matter the situation, Ohana is not a cheap trip. You cannot worry about a few hundred here or there.

That's the truth... our of towners will pay jacked up room or vacation rental rates. Don't forget the $15 beers! It's not for the faint of heart seeing a slice of pizza for $11

My Ohana philosophy has been applied with 100 percent consistency since the festival's inception. If Pearl Jam is playing, I'm going. If Pearl Jam is not playing, I'm not going.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Your prerogative. But as a local this is a festival I've never missed in 10 years and have never been disappointed. It's expensive and small but it's "home".

By day two we smuggled in airplane bottles of vodka in our clear fanny packs. If you have a clear bag they barely look. The $22 doubles also suck. I have said it before and I will say it again. Eat a good breakfast, enjoy the shows, then go to the Rib Joint.

Does anyone else think Geese is a definite for Ohana? Their tour lines up and they are playing a bunch of festivals. Shaky Knees the prior week which I know has had some band overlap with Ohana in the past.  They are also teetering on blowing up with their SNL appearance and are headlining some smaller festivals. I’m personally not a fan as their style isn’t in my wheelhouse so I’m hoping if they are on the  lineup they are like the third line and not direct supporting act. I don’t think they are big enough to headline a mid-tier festival like Ohana yet thankfully.

I could see Alabama Shakes playing. They recently announced dates with a 9/25 Santa Barbara Bowl show at the end of their tour and no LA/OC/SD shows. Brittany Howard played Ohana a few years back.

That's a good prediction.  I could see them headlining one of the days.

Would love love Radiohead, but I believe the Strokes and Fontaines DC will be more likely contenders. Both bands are playing Shaky Knees the week prior, have nothing else planned after, and have played Ohana before.

Brandi Carlile's tour wraps up in San Diego on 9/22 -- perhaps she'd be at Ohana?

Do you think maybe Mike will debut his rock opera at Ohana?

I have been to a few Ohanas and after reading the last few pages I have some info to share…

The parking garage was built and opened in 2025.  That was a major change as in prior years, as there was very little parking, the festival offered park and ride shuttles.  I used the garage in 2025 and would do so again this year if I go, but I actually preferred the park and ride.  Oh well.  They didn’t ask my opinion.

If someone is contemplating a flight, if it’s fully refundable to cash, there’s no downside to booking it.  If something better comes up, take the refund and rebook.  SNA is the closest airport but if I was going I would use whichever of SNA, SAN and LAX had the best flight deal.  This assumes a plan of renting a car.

Irvine/Lake Forest is an okay place to stay if a person doesn’t drink at the festival and is okay to drive for a little while.  I’ve done it.  There are closer towns that still require a motor vehicle, such as San Clemente, Mission Viejo, Alisa Viejo.  I’ve done those too! Nothing beats staying across the street from the festival though, which I did once.

I am not sure if I can go this year but writing about it makes me want to!

Between Oceans Calling and Bourbon and Beyond, looks like Dave Matthews and Mumford and Sons are both out for Ohana
    Good

Seriously. I'm planning on going this year as long as the lineup is even solid. DMB and Mumford would have been too much for me though. Bummer MMJ is off the table though.
"What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again."

It's always solid... some days more than others
