So we get to have our favorites, and non-favorites. Right?
    That said

I hope Eileen Gu finishes dead last.

The Winter Olympics always makes me think about how when I was a young kid I had a huge crush on Eric Heiden. I remember cutting out pictures of him from magazines and hanging them on my bedroom wall.
    Im old.
I remember Franz Klammer and his Olympic downhill Gold. He flew down that hill.

I remember that. The Olympics used to be a such big deal. Must watch TV. If I remember correctly, I think NBC made it pay per view and my interest was lost. They destroyed that event.

The 76 American boxing team. That was "must watch" TV.

Such big heart but her knee was already done.  Crazy balls to try and Olympic downhill course with no knee.

That was brutal. It was tough listening to her screaming after the crash.

I can’t believe she actually tried to ski on that knee! Really bad decision and now the new damage she has done to that knee could really affect her coming years! There’s no way she’ll professionally compete again

Easily horrific video+audio scenes, even more if you knew the details about her knees (incl. the latest news) in advance. I was not expecting a „Hollywood story“ and saw a kind of horror show on Sunday morning.

    Giant Slalom Parallel Snowboarding?

    I like it!

    Again, these skiers are lunatics.

A couple of these men's snowboarders are in their 40's. Good for them!

And some of these race times? Geez, you lose by 0.02 of a second and you are going home.

    Pressure

I wonder whether the ACL injury/weak knee II lead to the hit of the orange sign, what caused the crash.

At this point the knee was still „ok“/start condition. She knows the answer and will show up with a answer to the public for sure.
Anyway, ultimately the landing was fatal.

She was aggressive and cut that turn too tightly. You can see her extend her arms before the gate knowing it was going to be close. She was an inch or two too deep. Less than that and she just hits the gate and comes away fine.
She was third in training on Friday so knee was holding up.

Thanks. „third in training“ (two days before) speaks for itself.

That Crans Montana race never should have went ahead. (Where she injured her knee.) Conditions were awful.

Due to NBC copyright reasons, here is an artist's recreation of Vonn's last ride ..
