"Protesting," "Speaking Out."  It does absolutely nothing.  Meaningless.  Go get a second job and do that on the weekends instead of holding colorful signs. Donate that money to candidates of your choice so they can win and enact change.  Artists already have enough money for that.
Historically speaking, it takes 3.5% of the population to stand up and protest nonviolently to ensure political change.

Interesting stat!  I like how this thread has taken off.  Maybe a good sign!

    Pathetic comment...
Weak, watered down comment with no substance, pure emotion.

Thanks for the pep talk and for demonstrating how sitting on your hands "does absolutely nothing."
I guess you reacted emotionally as well, without even understanding or comprehending what I said.  "Sitting on your hands does absolutely nothing."  I didn't say sit on your hands.  I said work more and donate some of your earnings to the campaigns of candidates who won't be doing these things. Increase their chances of winning.

Yeah. I guess sometimes I get too emotional about Americans being murdered by their own government. I guess I'll just stay silent and get another job at Walmart. Thanks for your expert and so well informed advice.

Back to reality, PJ and every single band or famous person who has an audience need to all start speaking up until it becomes deafening!

The best way for any musician - prompt made and released like Springsteen or released XX months later.
January 2026 can be reason enough / useful fodder for something on a new PJ album.
    Venezuela
    Greenland
    Minnesota

At least two songs when Venezuela and Greenland are combined in one.

Tom Morello just announced a Solidarity concert in Minneapolis this Friday, all proceeds to the families of the people murdered.
    This is the way.

Where's Zach et al? The heroes of our childhood have mostly seemed to cash their checks.

I did see Neil is giving greenlanders full access to his online catalog.

Through the winter’s ice and cold
    Down Nicollet Avenue
A city aflame fought fire and ice
    ‘Neath an occupier’s boots
King Trump’s private army from the DHS
    Guns belted to their coats
Came to Minneapolis to enforce the law
    Or so their story goes
    Against smoke and rubber bullets
    By the dawn’s early light
    Citizens stood for justice
Their voices ringing through the night
    And there were bloody footprints
    Where mercy should have stood
And two dead left to die on snow-filled streets
    Alex Pretti and Renee Good

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
    Singing through the bloody mist
We’ll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst
Here in our home they killed and roamed
    In the winter of ’26
We’ll remember the names of those who died
    On the streets of Minneapolis

Trump’s federal thugs beat up on
    His face and his chest
    Then we heard the gunshots
And Alex Pretti lay in the snow, dead
Their claim was self defense, sir
    Just don’t believe your eyes
    It’s our blood and bones
    And these whistles and phones
Against Miller and Noem’s dirty lies

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
    Crying through the bloody mist
We’ll remember the names of those who died
    On the streets of Minneapolis

Now they say they’re here to uphold the law
But they trample on our rights
If your skin is black or brown my friend
You can be questioned or deported on sight

In chants of ICE out now
Our city’s heart and soul persists
Through broken glass and bloody tears
    On the streets of Minneapolis

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
    Singing through the bloody mist
Here in our home they killed and roamed
    In the winter of ’26
We’ll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst
We’ll remember the names of those who died
    On the streets of Minneapolis
We’ll remember the names of those who died
    On the streets of Minneapolis
    Nature drunk and High

It's great to see Springsteen standing up, and I also loved that he used names. There is no ambiguity there.

I want PJ to do something that gets picked up in a news cycle. I only heard about the new Springsteen song because I saw a story on the Yahoo page. It would be great if they did something big to put the spotlight on this administration murdering its own citizens. It really wouldn't take that much to do, just a little creativity.
