You guys have been laying low politically for a while now. I think now more than ever you need to speak up with all that is going on in this crazy country! Where are you Eddie?

I don’t think this band or any of its members will speak out directly against what’s happening but maybe this thread can be moved to a MT

Didn’t they have a recent album with some politically motivated songs?

True! They always have some politically charged songs on every album. They just seem a bit more reserved when it comes to the current political climate. I was listening to Bushleaguer from Nashville 03 last night, a show that I attended. It was pretty awesome!

Ed had comments at their most recent show in Pittsburgh. There are lyrics about this administration on both Gigaton & Dark Matter. Jeff and Mike have both posted on Instagram about Minneapolis. Exactly what else should they be doing?

Maybe just keep Grievance in heavy rotation next tour! Also Bushleaguer with a new name. That could be a good thread if it has not been already. What would be a good new name for Bushleaguer with this administration?

Listen to the Missoula boot, Ed tried to warn everyone of what could happen, hell, so did Kamala and people still voted for this convicted felon. We were all warned, the educated listened and the rest caused this mess. We great again yet?

TBH, I miss vintage angry Ed of the Riot Act & Avocado eras.
I feel like I need to hear them speak up and play live with setlists that reflect these times. Maybe I'm expecting too much.

Bruce Springsteen brought it last night.

    https://www.app.com/story/entertainment/music/2026/01/18/bruce-springsteen-ice-donald-trump-light-of-day/88241933007/

Bruce Springsteen takes on Trump, ICE at LOD, 'You must speak out'

    The Boss lowered the boom.

Bruce Springsteen criticized the Trump administration's deployment of ICE agents to Minneapolis and the fatal shooting by an ICE agent of Renee Good in comments at the Light of Day Winterfest main event show Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank.

“I wrote this song as an ode to American possibility,” said Springsteen while introducing “The Promised Land.” “It was about a both beautiful but flawed country, that we are, and the country that we could be. Right now, we are living through incredibly critical times. The United States, the ideals and the values for which it stood for the past 250 years, is being tested as it's never been in modern times.”

    The audience broke into applause.

“Those values and those ideals have never been as endangered as they are right now,” Springsteen said. “So as we gather tonight in this beautiful display of love and care and thoughtfulness and community, if you believe in democracy and liberty and believe the truth still matters, you must speak out and it's worth fighting for. If you believe in the power of the law and that no one stands above it. If you stand against heavily armed masked federal troops invading an American city, using Gestapo tactics against our fellow citizens. If you believe you don't deserve to be murdered for exercising your American right to protest, send a message to this president as the mayor of that city has said, ICE should get the (expletive) out of Minneapolis.”
