    I don't think anyone disagrees with that. 99% of the protestors are peaceful.
    The debate was when or if you have to comply with ICE. If you're one of the few not peacefully protesting and are obstructing, then they do have authority over the situation. But I don't think anyone was saying most people are not peaceful about it.

    US court allows ICE to arrest and pepper-spray peaceful protesters in Minnesota

    In victory for Trump administration, appeals court has temporarily lifted injunction as JD Vance set to visit state

    An appeals court has temporarily lifted restrictions from a federal judge in Minnesota that blocked ICE agents from pepper-spraying and arresting peaceful protesters.

    In a victory for the Trump administration, the eighth US circuit court of appeals on Wednesday granted the justice department’s request for an administrative stay of a preliminary injunction issued last Friday by Judge Katherine Menendez.

    Menendez’s preliminary injunction would have prohibited ICE agents from retaliating against peaceful protesters, arresting or detaining people who are participating in peaceful protests, using pepper spray or similar non-lethal munitions and crowd dispersal tools, as well as stopping or detaining drivers without reasonable cause.

    When Menendez imposed the restrictions, she ruled that federal immigration agents’ actions had a “chilling effect” on protesters’ first amendment rights.

    Following Menendez’s preliminary injunction last week, the homeland security department defended ICE’s tactics. Spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said: “DHS is taking appropriate and constitutional measures to uphold the rule of law and protect our officers and the public from dangerous rioters.”

    The latest decision from the eighth circuit court of appeals comes as Vice-President JD Vance is set to visit Minneapolis on Thursday. According to the White House, Vance will “hold a roundtable with local leaders and community members and will deliver remarks focused on restoring law and order in Minneapolis”.

    ICE activity in Minnesota has drawn mounting criticism in recent weeks, intensified by the killing of Renee Good, a 37-year-old woman and mother of three, by a federal agent. Her death has prompted large-scale protests statewide and across the country. In response, DHS has stood by ICE’s actions, maintaining that agents operated within the law and used force only in self-defense when they perceived threats.

    State leaders, however, reject that characterization. Tim Walz, the state governor, and local officials have condemned the deployment of thousands of federal agents as an unconstitutional and destructive “federal invasion”, describing it as a retaliatory campaign that has spread fear, undermined civil liberties and violated the rights of Minnesota residents.

    In response, the justice department has subpoenaed several prominent Minnesota Democrats, including Walz and Jacob Frey, the Minneapolis mayor, whom the department accuses of conspiring to impede ICE operations.

    What was that about there not being death camps, again? Gee, I wonder what year of the Nazi regime in the 1930s did it take for the first 30 “enemies” to be eliminated and how long did it take? A couple of days? A week or two? A month, maybe? And then how long did it take to ramp up even more to what we now know occurred. I mean, at what point did it go from round ups, to detention, to summary executions in the streets, to ovens and mass graves? Maybe our “I’ve read more than you’ll ever know” resident Nazi scholar could fill us in?

    Today the El Paso County Office of the Medical Examiner ruled that the death of 55-year-old Cuban-born Geraldo Lunas Campos detained in Camp East Montana in El Paso, Texas, was a homicide. Camp East Montana is a tent encampment where migrants have reported poor conditions and physical abuse. Lunas Campos died of asphyxiation after guards put pressure on his neck and chest during an altercation during which Lunas Campos asked for his medication. Two detainees testified that they saw guards choking Lunas Campos, who repeatedly told them he couldn’t breathe. The Trump administration has since tried to deport the two witnesses. 

    Douglas MacMillan of the Washington Post reported that at least 30 people died in detention last year, the highest number in twenty years. Six people, including Lunas Campos and another detainee at Camp East Montana, died in the first two weeks of 2026.

    Vance here to spread lies and say how terrible it was for protesters to scare kids in church. Meanwhile, ICE is baiting parents with a 5 year old, ramming a vehicle with 2 teenagers, harassing students in school parking lots and killing the mother of 3, but damn it those unarmed protesters disrupting MAGA mass are the real issue that needs to be reigned in here in MN. Go stand outside for an hour tonight and turn in to a popsicle Vance. Surprised the temp didn't go up when that child of Satan arrived in town. Instead it will be the coldest day in 7 years.

    Some Maine law enforcement, elected officials, and lawyers dispute ICE's claim targeting criminals:

    Just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Emily Lambdin was at work at Austin Street Brewery in Portland's Bayside neighborhood, when a commotion across the street caught her eye.

    She said four unmarked vehicles had surrounded a car across the street, and about half a dozen officers wearing tactical vests and masks were wrestling a man out of the car. Lambdin began filming.

    In the Lambdin's video, the man being detained can be heard shouting that he's a corrections officer for Cumberland County as the ICE agents handcuff him and put him in the back of an unmarked vehicle. Lambdin says it was all over in minutes.

    "At no point did I hear them give any reason" for the detention, said Lambdin. "They never read him any rights that I could hear."

    When the ICE agents departed, Lambdin said they left the man's car's idling on the side of the road. That drew a harsh response from Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce on Thursday.

    "They left it right on the side of the street," Joyce said during a press conference. "Folks, that's bush league policing."

    Joyce confirmed the man in the video was a corrections officer recruit at the county jail. Like all recruits, Joyce said the man, who he did not name, went through a rigorous, multilayered vetting process.

    Joyce said he had legal authorization to work and no criminal record.

    "Every indication we found is that this is, this was a squeaky clean individual that really hadn't done anything at all," he said.

    After the arrest, Joyce said an ICE official told his office simply that the man was "illegal.”

    "I come to a conclusion, I hope it's wrong, that if you're not a card carrying U.S. citizen in this country, then everybody is illegal," Joyce said.

    In city after city across the country, from L.A. to Chicago to Minneapolis, the Department of Homeland Security has told a consistent story, that it was deploying legions of immigration agents to remove dangerous criminals. Earlier this week, the agency highlighted four people arrested in Maine during the current enforcement surge, calling them "the worst of the worst" based on their alleged criminal history.

    U.S. Sen. Angus King said he's not convinced.

    "These are four that they've given us," King said on Thursday. "One of them is an OUI, which I think few people would characterize as the worst of the worst."

    In 2024, there were over 4,200 DUI arrests in Maine, according to the latest state crime report.

    "Let's call this what this is. This is a large scale mass deportation effort," King said.

    Anna Welch, director of the Refugee and Human Rights Clinic at the University of Maine School of Law, said what she's seeing so far in Maine fits with national trends. Over the last few months, the vast majority of newly-detained immigrants have no criminal record, according to researchers analyzing ICE data.

    "Most of the people being arrested in Maine so far are not folks with criminal records. They are asylum seekers. They are people who have followed our immigration laws. They have applied for asylum. They have received work permits,” Welch said.

    She said it's hard to get a full picture, because ICE is not sharing much information about who they're arresting and why.

    But the Portland-based Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project reports seeing similar trends, saying in a written statement Thursday that many of the people arrested so far have no criminal record and are pursuing lawful immigration pathways.

    And Welch aid the premise that immigrants are driving up crime rates in the U.S. has been repeatedly debunked.

    "Study after study shows that immigrants are actually less likely to commit crimes than native-born U.S. citizens," she said.

    In Maine, the latest state report find the crime rate fell for the fourth consecutive year in 2024, even as the state's immigrant population has grown steadily over the last two and a half decades.

    Meanwhile, Cumberland County Sheriff Joyce said his office will conduct an internal investigation into the corrections officer arrested by ICE, and is asking the agency to share any reports related to the arrest.

    Last year, at the beginning of the second Trump administration, Joyce said he and over a hundred sheriffs met with federal border tsar Tom Homan, who said his priorities ARE twofold: secure the border and arrest criminals.

    "We're being told one story, which is totally different than what's occurring, or what occurred last night," Joyce said.

    They would have never canned him. I'm surprised they're even making changes. It would be too embarrassing for Noem to leave and I fully believe Miller would never be outed. He's there to secure the "homeland" for the white Christian nationals.

    Which is hilarious given his family are jewish and his grandparents emigrated , I believe. if not them his great grandparents.
