Playing private gigs and not doing 7 inch christmas singles takes up a lot of energy

(Bruce "speaks out" from the stage. PJ as a band hasn't been interviewed or on a stage for a while. I think both Jeff and Mike have commented politically on their personal SoMe-accounts. And I mean, you have gigantic protests and every "left leaning" actor or musicians are speaking out, not like another "left leaning artist" will make that much of a difference. Everyone knows where Pearl Jam... and the entire world... stands on the issue. If they were a really cool band in the US in 2026 they would have used their platform to congratulate Mandami winning in NYC, vow to not do private gigs for shit-companies, only play arenas that go vegan like Billie Eilish, say Sweden made better cars that the US with SAAB and not say "Eh.. Trump and ICE are bad")

Bruce doesn’t just “speak out” from the stage.  He has called Trump out directly and publicly many times.  Most notably in October 2024 when he referred to Trump as “the most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime” during a recorded endorsement video for Kamala Harris.

When he does speak out from the stage he does it directly and repeatedly.  He did it over and over again during his spring tour in Europe.  And he didn’t leave it there.  He released a live EP from that tour where his anti-Trump speech was included as a separate track on the release.

I’m not sure why we’re minimizing Springsteen or any other artist for speaking out in whatever form they choose.

You are really upset about not being invited to this private event. Maybe they there was no vegan options and they didn’t want to upset you. We know how you get.

I’d def make it a point to go but I’d be taking a chance on getting back into America even though I hold an American passport! I’m sure I’d be scrutinized just because I’m Spanish but I’d be worth it

I am not minimizing Bruce in any way. I am just saying he was in a position where he usually say things to say things. While Pearl Jam doesn't tour for the moment or is doing a press tour for an album.

Didn't you say something similiar just some posts earlier?

But I did not know about (for example) that endorsement video for Kamala. Cool doing that (Except for the pushing a politican, but I guess the "FAMOUS PERSON ENDORSES CANDIDATE" is a more probable thing to pick up by an outlet, than just "FAMOUS PERSON POSTS A VIDEO SPEAKING OUT". But I don't think Pearl Jam would get on e.g. Forbes in the same way "national hero" Bruce does. Beside the point ofc.

COMPLETELY AGREE. Now, is the time to be more verbal and angry as ever! This country is being run into the ground by a toddler with a soiled diaper. Every day is a new unbelievable action by this administration. All artists and all of US have an obligation to raise our voices against this insanity.

Only playing venues that go vegan is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard, lol. I kinda like Billie Eilish, but that is idiotic.

They are old now (refencing the setlists). Probably as simple as that.

At last year’s Raleigh show, they had a Chick fil A right in the arena.  North Carolina knows how to do it.

"Protesting," "Speaking Out."  It does absolutely nothing.  Meaningless.  Go get a second job and do that on the weekends instead of holding colorful signs. Donate that money to candidates of your choice so they can win and enact change.  Artists already have enough money for that.

Thanks for the pep talk and for demonstrating how sitting on your hands "does absolutely nothing."
