So here is the thing about that flight and all long haul flights. I have done JFK to Tokyo 30 times so I have a drill. Coach, business and first.

When was the last time you had no emails, texts, or calls for 14 hours? Enjoy that peace. Eat some food, drink some wine, eat some cheese, watch a movie and take a nap. Stay away from the prescription sleep aids IMHO. You might not feel well when you land, but an Advil pm before dinner helps. Stay up before you go to adjust. Jet lag coming back is the hard part. Takes a few days to adjust.

I’m coming back on a Friday to not push it too much so I’ll be ready for Work on Monday… American Airlines meh… all others were connections which maybe wouldn’t be too bad…

When briefly considering going, I was looking for the shortest flight even if it meant connecting or self connecting.  From Continental North America I think Vancouver and Seattle are tied at 10 hours to Tokyo westbound.  Honolulu is surprisingly not much less at about 9.  For me, anything over 6 hours needs to have something very compelling at the other end.  Ed in small venues? Comes close but doesn’t quite make the cut, partly because I have had the good fortune to see him in small-ish venues before.  Give me something a little closer and I’m in.

As an aside, the days of flights with the luxury of turning off the outside world and email are kind of gone thanks to in flight Wi-Fi.

We’ve always wanted to visit Japan, and the Nagoya show is on my son’s birthday. However, we just bought a house last month so there’s no way we can swing it this time.

Hope everyone that can get a ticket has a great time!

In flight Wi-Fi sucks and is a waste of money. If going coach I suggest downloading a movie or two. I have had a few flights where the entertainment system did not work. Shut it down and enjoy the journey. If you want to visit Asia or Australia, then you are going to have to deal with a long flight. I actually like connections, as it gives you a chance to stretch your legs. But yes, it is a full day of travel. Personally, I think these shows are not just about seeing Ed, but also going to Japan.

Makes sense.  It was still surprising that it was only 10 vs 9.

Just tried for 1 ticket each show and Osaka and Kyoto already sold out which is a bummer as I was asleep when they were released.

Do we know if more will be released?

I don't want to plan a solo trip and book airfare without having a ticket in hand for each show.

Any chance more tickets will be released for Osaka and Kyoto? Traveling from PA so would need tickets now to make the trip work.
