That's awesome! My brothers ended up with the NES and Super NES from our childhood. I had the Genesis, Sega CD and 32x but I'm pretty sure my college roommate stole them. Total douche, that guy was.Rygar said:
This is me, I kept all my Segas and Xboxes and have every console except Sega CD. Whatever Nintendos and Playstations I didn't have as a kid I acquired as an adult.dudeman said:
A friend of mine has managed to hang on to all of the systems from his childhood, along with the original packaging for the systems, games and accessories. He has every Nintendo system from the NES through the Switch, all of the Xbox versions and all of the Playstation versions through the PS4.pearldavidson said:
Good on you for hanging on to that stuff because some of it sells for decent money now a days. I tend to just throw a lot of stuff out because I hate clutter lol.MayDay10 said:pearldavidson said:I was at my cousin’s for a Christmas party and he still has his N64 with a lot of great games. I wish I held on to that stuff when I was younger.
I just lifted a crt tv out of my in-laws' basement. I have my NES hooked up to it, still have all my old games. I might find a SNES and some games. I own my sega and ps1 and a bunch of games too I want to hook up. Looks terrific on the crt
He told me he took some of the old stuff into the local shop and they offered him a staggering amount of money. He ended up hanging onto it all for now. It is really an interesting trip down memory lane to see all of that stuff! If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
SNES was the best of the 90's systems, IMO. Lots of great games that are still a blast today.MayDay10 said:I have a NES x3, Game Boy x4, Sega, Sega CD, PS1, PS2, PS3, XBox 360 (wont read disks anymore and is junk), as well as modern stuff.
I also have a decent pile of games. I shared a house with some friends after college and once we all moved out, they gave me some of their stuff. I have a decent pile of NES games (loose cartridges mostly) some of them in triplicate.
One thing I regret in hindsight is growing up with NES, then moving on to Sega Genesis. I missed out on SNES. I want to play those games I think. Broke out my SNES mini and have been playing. Kind of want to get a SNES.
You can play those old games on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, along with the NES, N64, Game Cube, Game Boy and Game Boy Advanced. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
Happy New Year, Amigos! An early 2026 recommendation from me is PBA Bowling 2026. It is a really good bowling sim that has good physics and a variety of oil patterns that will breakdown over time. And it is cool to take a ball you own in real life in the game. To make a comparison, PBA Bowling 2026 is to Wii Bowling what Gran Turismo is to Mariokart. And to top it off, it is only $40. The limited production budget of this niche game kinda reminds me of a game from 20 years ago (not a bad thing). A Switch version drops next week, but I don't know if it will have motion controls ... I doubt it.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Just started God of War III after going all the way through the first two.
(It is crazy to be discovering games that have been around for a long time and having them feel fresh.) The third one is definitely a leap forward in graphics and depth compared to the first two. I also really enjoyed those. Really looking forward to seeing the next ones in the series.
Concurrently with getting into some of the PS3 games, I have also been picking up some games for the Switch 2. Got Street Fighter 6, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, Metroid Prime Remastered and Metroid Dread the other day. Planning on getting the Zelda games "Tears of the Kingdom" and "Breath of the Wild", "Cronos: A New Dawn", "Cyberpunk 2077" and maybe a couple of the Yakuza games next. Also interested in the Assassin's Creed games but I have zero experience with them so far. The trailer for the Switch 2 one set in feudal Japan looks amazing!

Watch the file size of 3rd Party games …. Switch 2 comes with 256 GB of memory. Most 3rd party AAA games are over 64 GB with some topping 100 GB. You can expand the memory up to 2 TB with an expensive SD Express card. Assassins Creed games are known for large file sizes.
And Nintendo did a dumb thing with the physical game cards (which I won’t get into details) where over 95% of physical cards are empty pieces of plastic with no data on it … just a key code to download. Cyberpunk is one of the few 3rd party games to actually put the game data on the card, so I would get that version to save 64 GB of memory.
I've been thinking of getting Red Dead Redemption on Switch 2 as Rockstar have added 60 FPS for free (Nintendo would charge at least $10 for the privilege). It is one of my top games of all time.

That's good info. Thanks. I have been buying the physical copies of Switch 2 games so far and I think I will continue to do so. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on storage space though.Jason P said:Watch the file size of 3rd Party games …. Switch 2 comes with 256 GB of memory. I bought a Switch 2 Pro Controller yesterday. It is crazy how much better it feels that the Joy Cons. Highly recommend even at the current price point. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0

JINX! I just got a Pro Controller yesterday as well.
Initial impressions is that if feels a little more sturdy and is just a tad smaller with better ergonomics than the Switch 1 pro controller. Back buttons are a very nice addition. Overall, I'm much more impressed than I thought I would be. Still pricey ...Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0 -
I've recently been playing Fallout 4 via PSN streaming. Haven't played that game in probably 10 years and I'm having a blast. I have a love/hate with Fallout games. They are always fun, but I've had so many glitches over the years where I'll be endgame and something gets fucked up...or some corrupted file or something.
That said, it's cool to stream a game like that. Can play it on my PS5, shut it down and continue on my Portal.0 -
I don’t know much about these consoles and how they work; how do I expand space on my ps4?Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0

You may need to do an internet search on how to format it, but it is in user setting somewhere. This link may be overkill if you don't have a lot of games at 2 TB, but it should give you an idea. It will plug into the back of the PS4 via USB.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Thanks, I figured it might be an external drive, and I do have an extra, I also wasn’t sure how it worked. Thanks for confirming.Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0

For those who have a PS5, do you think they are worth the cost? I'd mostly be looking for one that could play discs, not the digital-only version. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0

I love my PS5, but I was a few generations behind so it felt like a huge step up for me.0

PS5 is worth the upgrade for the reduced load times. The game industry has finally closed the door on PS4 compatibility. I think it will be a viable system for the next six years, even if a PS6 comes out. Also, the PS5 controller ergonomics are a huge upgrade. It doesn't look much different, but I can play this controller all day ... I played a PS4 controller for a few hours and my thumb hurt for a month.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Speaking of the PS6, I just pre-ordered this bad boy ...

I tried to hook up my NES last night and it kept having the red blinking light when I pressed the power button. Think I have to give it a little cleaning. Should fix my problem from what I’ve quickly read online.0

Sektori - A twin stick shooter that is the spiritual successor of Geometry Wars. A good $15 arcade game that answers the age old question of, "Is it possible to not blink for 10 straight minutes?". Yes, yes it is.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Time to break out all the old game programming magazines and write myself a bitch'n screen saver!I sat on the fence for a few months because of price (plus VAT fees) puts it at around $400. But the early reviews seem to leave all but the ultra techno nerds impressed. They put out a "starlight" edition that users are complaining about the keyboard flex, but none with the retro breadbox color that I prefer.I'm interested to find out if computing in the 80's was more fun than today or if that is nostalgia in my memory. Actually using a computer as a tool to supplement creativity instead of a doom scroll advertisement machine that sells your personal info to the highest bidder.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0
