"Light Years"

i've used hammers made out of wood

I have lost someone this past year and this song explains that confusion that comes with a loss of a loved one perfectly.

Theres a version of it called the 'extended version' (fairly straightforward eh?). Its around anyway, its definately worth checking out.

I adore this song. I know its supposed to be about death and all but its me and my bfs song. Mostly because of the second verse, we used to live 7 hous from each other.

Light years was the first song that I listen from Binaural,and I have never forgot that moment and what it made me feel.

Listening to it right now on one of the bootlegs, it really is beautiful. This and Last Kiss helped me reaffirm my faith in someone I love. It's the tragedy and acceptance in the words and, of course, the way Ed sings it.

To me the lyrics to this song are poetic.

It's an amazing mix of sadness and celebration of the life that was lost.

I originally got hooked on the St. Louis boot version from 2003 because I was pretty slow getting Binaural. I think I prefer the pace and emotion in the live version, but I still love the recorded cut as well.

the line we were but stones your light made us stars, makes me sometimes think of a secret message from the band to all of us who adore them.

They used to be just guys who got together and jammed (no pun intended) and our adoration we shine on them turned them from stones to stars.

That's a really cool interpretation-fits nicely with the thread 'What makes you love PJ'.

I just love Light Years now, shame they didn't do a version on Benaroya Hall, that'd have been cool...
