Airline Advice

We are going to Vegas to see NIN in March.  We always fly out of Hollywood/Burbank airport (in a suburb of Los Angeles) because it is VERY convenient.

We usually take Southwest, but because of recent changes to their service, their fares have pretty much doubled for the day/time we usually fly.

I found a much cheaper fare on Frontier Airlines.  Even with paying for the extras such as advance seat assignment & carry-on bags, it was 1/2 of what I'd pay for Southwest.

My question is:  just how bad is Frontier?  Are we talking the same quality as Spirit Airlines, a bit better, or worse?

LAX is a nightmare most of the time, so I am willing to absorb some pain & suffering to avoid flying out of there!

Thanks in advance!

It's lawn chairs bolted to the floor but if it's not a long flight you're fine

I actually think Frontier is on par with Southwest.

    There’s only one Spirit.

It is usually a 45 minute flight.

If they would offer “standing only” tickets, I would go for this option with a security belt. No need for chairs.

I just was curious - fastest direct bus: 5 hours with two stops, 7:15-12:15.
The bus+train option needs way more time.
Strange thing: there is still no direct LA - LV train route in 2025 but at least someone is working on it.

    Southwest's recent changes suck.
They think customers are happy now that you can pay for checked bags and pay to choose your seating assignment.

    This weekend we rock Portland

I took Frontier earlier this year for something.  The flight was delayed by about an hour but otherwise fine.  They do have a lot of hidden charges so ensure to read the fine print though.

Frontier is the only airline where I thought I was on a flight that was going to have to do an unscheduled landing to remove passengers that smuggled 5 gallons worth of Fireball shooters onto the flight.  I was sitting next to one of the ladies and she smelled like she hot-boxed a carton of Marlboros before getting on.

    But I saved $50.

I flew Frontier once (probably about 10 years ago or so), didn't have any problems.

That is my concern.....a cancellation or long delay!

We took a Frontier flight a few years ago. I thought it was really odd that they used the drink cart to block the aisle between row 1 and the cockpit. The attendants stood behind the cart like it was an electric fence.

I see them do that on every airline every time the pilot needs to take a leak
