The far right is not alone in its “authoritarianism.” We will not know how bad Rs authoritarianism is until the next election. But that doesn’t absolve democrats for its groupthink and bullying.Zod said:For the most part America seems to be waiting for the next presidential election to see if the Trump issue resolves itself. It's not even 10 months so far. 3+ years is a lot more time to consolidate power.I think the outcome or lack of outcome in that election is going to be a biggie. What do the non-republican side do, if it is a shift to Authoritarianism and they're on the wrong side of it? Will they go down quietly?
democrats are hardly giving us in the middle a reasonable choice. “I’m Not trump” has failed twice, yet it’s all they got to cover up their version of extremist politics.0 -

david hogg said, his generation has never known of a world without trump and maga. as a whole they do not know that this is not normal. this is normal to them. the maga movement took a few years to take hold following the tea party. i just do not see a centrist movement taking shape that is going to take over. things have gone so far right that anything in the center is seen as "radical left".Tim Simmons said:

I agree. But the shallowness of it all will eventually land.
I mean, he wasn't elected as president 4 years ago. People change. People want change.0 -
Theres a big 'Life finds a way' aspect to all of this. Things happen which means other things can't or won't. People become amenable to things. People change all the time. 250 years of this country prove this. Nothing is forever.
there was generation that came up in the US only knowing the US being in 2 wars and there were articles saying how people will not want war for generations and we are seeing that (sort of, if you don't count the proxy wars). But I have zero doubt the US will be in some sort of protracted skirmish again that people will support and then eventually become tired of and we'll see prolonged "peace".
everything is malleable.

All that being said, rn is an incredibly serious time for our country and we seem to be coming to an inflection point.

No blame could possible fall on liberals with their liberal forums where ideas are discussed with “reasoned debate and discussion” and ideas outside the accepted norm are not endlessly ignored, ridiculed and mocked. That could never happen on a leftist forum.
I bet you’re falling down to prove that.0 -

2026 elections will be huge....the Dems need to take back the house to try and reign in trump's bullshitZod said:For the most part America seems to be waiting for the next presidential election to see if the Trump issue resolves itself. Are you pretending to not have posted a gif of falling down just two hours ago? Your commentary used to be very good , but now its part of the army of ignoring, ridiculing and mockery. Sad.Tim Simmons said:

I’m just fucking tired of your same bit. Anyway you can pivot to ‘it’s all the lefts fault for what ails the country’, you do. Even as a non sequitur. I’m just fucking tired.0

Zod: it will be interesting to see how people feel come the next election, they may be burnt out on all of this.
You: the left is also authoritarian.0 -
THE MIDDLE HAS HAD ALL THE CHANCES IN THE FUCKING WORLD! They’ve been running shit FOREVER. We are here in the now, because of the choices, The Middle, has made. But Because the left doesn’t like people dying in Gaza and speaks out about it, and feel like everyone should be treated like a human with dignity and respect for how they want to represent their humanity, and stands up for these people, and advocates for bigger social safety net because of wanting kindness and fairness, for some reason, it has broken peoples brains as if they and their WILD ideas are the worst thing to happen to the world. And trying to tie everything back to that not real threat, at every chance in this forum, is exhausting.Post edited by Tim Simmons on0

the problem is most americans will tell you that america kicked everyone's asses in wwI and wwII. they have some weird pride about it.Tim Simmons said:Theres a big 'Life finds a way' aspect to all of this. they do not know that the us did not enter ww1 until 1917, and that wwII had already been going on for a few years before we got sucked into it by the pearl harbor attack. they do not know why we prioritized winning in europe before winning in the pacific. we did not liberate berlin, the russians did. we helped, but we did not come in an conquer like a lot of americans believe. yes we sacrificed a lot in the pacific and dropped nuclear bombs on japan, but we would have potentially lost hunderds of thousands of soldiers doing a ground invasion of japan. we had the biggest bombs at the end of the war and we came out as a world leader at the end of those two wars.
they see things through an inaccurate lens."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

I’m sorry you’re tired. Try being one of if not the only voice here willing to say democrats have become extreme. The point is to win elections. The only way to do that is understand the voters that exist, not the ones we wish existed. Win some elections, and then try out these new policies for this country . Then go further left…. Try being subjected to constant attacks and ridicule, and a forum that belittles conservatives and moderates at a ratio of 100 times for each of my posts. And the constant posters about Gaza only care about blame and hatred, with constant reminders of the holocaust in every topic. That’s tiring. And certainly done with zero dignity.Tim Simmons said:THE MIDDLE HAS HAD ALL THE CHANCES IN THE FUCKING WORLD! They’ve been running shit FOREVER. But never ever pointing that out the hundreds of “orange clown…fvxkface…pedo…” for ever ONE of my comments challenging woke extremism.
and I agreed with your math on the home cost, with the only addition being to account for the forty years between the two calculations. Silence?
But are you willing to engage in “reasoned debate and discussion” the stated purpose of AMT? Doesn’t seem so. Better to mock and tear down than pierce the echo chamber here.0 -

I am definitely good to talk about specific topics but when everything just comes down to woke sucks the left is as bad or worse than maga it's just tiresome. I have more enlightening conversations with my real life conservative co workers, because they realize that things like the current financial system, credit schemes etc are a bigger problem than any political party. As far as you agreeing with my point about housing costs and reality of 1985 vs now it really didn't come off as if you were agreeing it seemed more like you were trying to say that buying an 85k house for 420k and paying half a mil over the lifetime of the mortgage was smart finance, forgive me if I took that the wrong way.Lerxst1992 said:static111 said:Lerxst1992 said:
