For the most part America seems to be waiting for the next presidential election to see if the Trump issue resolves itself.   It's not even 10 months so far.  3+ years is a lot more time to consolidate power.

I think the outcome or lack of outcome in that election is going to be a biggie.  What do the non-republican side do, if it is a shift to Authoritarianism and they're on the wrong side of it?  Will they go down quietly?
The far right is not alone in its “authoritarianism.” We will not know how bad Rs authoritarianism is  until the next election. But that doesn’t absolve democrats for its groupthink and bullying.

democrats are hardly giving us in the middle a reasonable choice. “I’m Not trump” has failed twice, yet it’s all they got to cover up their version of extremist politics.
One party is implementing dictatorship.  The other party is the bully.

    It's not going to happen
So why don't we just re-draw lines on the map (that's all most "borders" are anyway, and draw up divorce papers and be done with it.  I've been involved in that sort of thing with two women prior to my ever-loving faithful wife of the last 20+ years.
It's doable, and you get over it.  I'm over it.  Anybody with me?  Let's do this.
