I agree there is a difference but there isn't "a lot" of them. If there were a lot then he wouldn't have been elected.

OK, semantics.  "A lot" meaning quite a few, however.  For example, many of the people who worked for Trump his first term wised up and realized he was a bad choice.   A huge number of the people who voted for the Felon were MAGAs, not conservatives, and we agree that the two are not one in the same.  Being "conservative" does not mean a person is an idiot.  Labeling all things conservative as "bad" is one of the characteristics of this forum I sometimes take issue with (admittedly,  I more liberal than conservative).  People here have called me a radical leftist, and yet in some ways I am conservative.  I don't base my views on simply siding with liberal vs conservative.  I base my views on what as see as logical and sensible and I don't believe all conservative views are bad.  But I sure as hell do think so of the pointless and destructive MAGA intentions.

I can only imagine what the LOSER who wrote that nonsense looks like…..It really must suck to not ever being popular or desired by a woman to write some crap like that…. Here’s a little hint, most woman don’t like pussies and want to feel safe that their man can protect them or at least try.

    FLAGGED.
No one want to hear your hateful ,spiteful, venomous, and childish name calling rants.  Just take you hate and go away.  You and a small handful of people are trolling AMT for your own attention getting childish nonsense.  In case you hadn't noticed, most of the rest of the adults here would like to have a grown up conversation.  Just go, for Pete's sake, GO!
It's an opposing view.  Let her say what she wants.  It becomes an echo chamber in here plus I need a chuckle.
I don't know why people keep saying that. Even before maga/trump, we had spirited debates all the time. this place leans left, for sure, but there's LOTS of RINO's that post here and we debate with all the time. And even those that lean left will disagree with halifax all the time. lol
This place is absolutely an echo chamber. I see very little value in posting in this forum.

If I post anything even slightly right leaning it gets attacked. It's always the same posters (not naming any names) who act like the gate keepers of this place.

The only other forum I have ever posted on is a popular college football site. They lean heavily right and I get the same responses if I post anything moderately left.

It shocks me that people on these two sites continually post like one party has everything figured out and the other party never comes up with any decent policies. People who can only see things one way and see the "other side" as bad people are what's wrong with society/government.

There has been a bunch of unnecessary trolling and also a bunch of people acting like sore losers since the election.

Oh well. It's not like this post will make any difference around here.

Before election season there were approximately zero conservative posters here, discounting those like Linda who like to drop attack bombs and run away.

Since the election result, the right hasbeen popping in to pop off and spike the football, not to discuss politics.

I've repeatedly posted data about maga and gop policies and have asked those on the right to specifically reply to this data and indicate how maga economy policies help them. The only repky was shekky complaining about my posts, hitting the ignore button and running to their safe space.
You are using "conservative" where you mean "MAGA"....they aren't the same thing.

Agreed!  My wife and I were just talking about this point- that fact that the Felon and MAGA are not the same as conservative.  There are a LOT of conservative Americans who are very concerned about 45 being re-elected.  He and his henchmen and their MAGA followers do not want a conservative government.  They have no platform beyond tearing down.  45 never talked about platform.  He has no platform other than conquest and conquer and destroy.  When this country fought for it's independence, it had a plan, goals, ideals that were set forth.  MAGA simply wants to break all of our institutions and government (thus the appointment of people not qualified for their jobs) with nothing to replace it.  What will result will be a few extremely rich men who will profit greatly while most everyone else will pay for it and will find life more difficult.  All of this is plain to see, and yet the soon-to-be victims of their own choice still try to defend that choice.  What utter folly.

It's almost impossible imo to split conservatism  from maga, because he uses conservative doctrine to gain and keep followers. Magas power would not exist without it.

I suppose if you consider how language has changed, you may be right.  But the problem is, MAGA is more about hate, racism, bigotry, knee jerk irrationality, false religion, and so forth, than conservative.  That word has lost it's meaning.
Also, I would not describe word salad, aimless rambling, and the babbling of someone who has lost their mind as any kind of doctrine!

dors this article address by what measure or standard makes a "manly man"?

As I've gotten older, began to grow a bit and mature(took awhile,  stopping drinking/drugging helped) I now look to be a better human being rather than striving to meet some external arbitrary idea of manhood.Seems logical that being a better man follows that. seems to be working in my favor these days.

Unless im living under a rock, none of what that article says holds any reality in my life or view. Maybe it’s geared more towards TikTok or younger generations. Thankfully I know nothing about that world.

I’d consider myself manly. I surf all the the time and am a beach bum. I would never not use sun screen. I use nothing less than 70spf. I heavily monitor what I put in my body, never smoke , never ever drink (it’s poison). Have an incredible relationship with my wife, we’ve been together for 20 years. Would never be unfaithful, to me that’s a sign of weakness. I consider sleep to be the most important aspect of my overall health. I take care of myself because I want to do what I love for as long as possible. Being active, surfing , drumming and being here as long as possible at a high level for my wife and my family.

I’d consider most of that article to be the opposite of manly honestly. But I could just be completely out of touch and not into trends or whatever is going on on social media, since I have none. Just my two cents.

I see you say you have it is so well.. Good for you if true but there is a great much nore to manhood than what aligns with your own values and how you define your life.

Calling the article the opposite of manly misses the point for a lot of men who might not have everything as well put together or figured out as you do but they are are still men, and possibly good men too. Even if they aren't as fit, the best in male physical beauty or as well rested as you say you are or have this majorly fullfilled life with a woman doesn't make them any less of a man.

Thanks for telling the rest of us how it is from the point of view of a guy who can't relate to the rest of us. Its like you've turned your testimonial type comments into this explanation as to why you are so overton and or ivory towered in your reaction here towards other men who don't live like you do, but part of what make men good and interesting is the fact that are lives and lived experiences can be so vastly different, and alternately educated.

so share with us then just how much more there is to manhood then.

What I saw in the quoted post is someone who has an appreciation for their life, proactively takes care of it , and simply stated that the article didnt apply to HIM. not that it didnt apply to any. Someone with their own definition of what manhood is. again for him.

for me, I try to shed what others think I personally should be as a man and try to live to what I think a man is.

so do tell us what we are missing.

Thank you Mickey. I didn’t have the energy to respond. I’m shocked my post would offend anyone. I vaguely remember simply addressing the points the article mentioned and how I disagreed with them as it related specifically to me.

Honest question: Do men really go around consciously thinking about what they should be doing as men? That seems odd to me, as a woman. I don't go through life actively thinking about what I should be doing as a woman to be a woman properly, or wondering if I'm womanly enough, or anything like that at all. I stand up for the rights of women, but that's as close as I get to thinking about my own womanhood in the context I'm seeing in this thread...
