I’m sure I’m in the minority but I don’t hate the realignment idea. They already forced the dh on the NL and everyone plays everyone now so the separate leagues aren’t really a thing. I guess for awards it makes a difference if only one league. To me the biggest issue would be the northeast division with the ny teams, Boston and Philly. Putting major markets and major spenders together is probably not the best idea. Would the Yankees even want the Mets in the same division?

the best proposal i saw was on the Athletic and it had the AL East - Toronto, Baltimore, Boston and New York. NL East - Washington, New York, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

According to Manfred he wants to realign to cut on travel. (So, would they have 2 teams in the same City in the same Division?) You'd have to think NY would NOT want that.

I can't really picture Pittsburgh in the east. I know they were before the last big realignment (but then again so were the Cubs and Cardinals).

You can have literally 8 teams on the east coast that are less than 3 hours away by plane. Are they considering going back to trains?

Pittsburgh, Philly, Mets, Marlins, Cincy, St Louis, Nats and Chitown.

You have an equal amount of teams. What kind of realignment are you doing? Are we making it like hockey?

I can't either but in the sense of four of eight team divisions which seem to be how this might look, I'd rather them than a mix of AL/NL teams in the same division.

Phillies v Pirates is a great historical rivalry. They should be in the same division. And that will be when the Pirates get good again - they were good pretty much up until they moved to NL Central.

I'm a Reds fan and NL Central teams are already close to one another....not seeing that would need to change. Moving PITT to East could make sense but they are already very close to CIN, Cubs. MiL, and STL

I don't think expansion is good....they need to build up revenue and get a better sharing/min spending model in place. Fans are assfucked on the regular in some markets, where the owners don't spend.

Honestly at this point AL/NL serves no purpose, and is really strong on the Old Man Yells at Cloud vibes lol. In a world where there's a DH in both leagues and you play everyone in the league it's really silly at this point. I'm all for a move to a more geographic realignment of a East/West deal.

And the All Star game should be sandlot style - two captains (starting pitchers) pick their teams right before the game starts.

The AL & NL had the same rules the first 72 years they both existed.

There will be expansion strictly to bring in the exorbitant expansion fees that will come from the 2 new teams. Money will be the overriding factor. They will still keep a team out of a city that really wants one badly so that teams can continue the threat of moving to force concessions on stadium construction negotiations.
