We got thumped by trump, losing voters in many demos and every swing state, got caught lying to voters, who explicitly told them twice calling him a convict or a womanizer does not work. At all. By stopping calling them Nazi's or white supremacists, or fascists, or sexual assaulters, or pedos, you normalize that stuff existing. We move the overton window, essentially saying, its ok for a little bit of this stuff existing in American society.
The facts are there. they may not have it emblazoned on a shirt, but they certainly support those policies and behavior. They certainly aren't trying to run away from those descriptors either.

I do agree that Dems need a new approach, but I also believe that connecting with voters on bread and butter economic issues (like opening government run grocery stores in food deserts), offing ideas of real solutions to their problems is the way through.
