I just recently acquired a PS3. Have a Nintendo Wii and a PS2 that haven't been played in probably 7 years. This one probably won't get much use either but at least I have it for a rainy day.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 are certainly outclassed by new tech but those systems and games are super cheap right now. The jump from the PS2 to the PS3 seems like a pretty massive leap to me. Still haven't scratched the surface of the 70-some games that this thing came with.
The good ol days of when games would come out, what seemed like every month.  Now games take 4-5 years of development and cost more to produce than blockbuster movies.

I restarted Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (i have no idea how to pronounce that) which I played for about an hour about 8 years ago.  It has some new concepts for game design that I felt were odd (level map design).  It is made by Atlus, so with that strong pedigree I gave it a second try and I'm starting to see the genius in it.

DK Bonanza is getting all positive reviews.  Am I gonna have to spend $70 on a donkey kong game???

I played Mario Kart World for the first time with my niece ...  It is 7 year old approved as well as 40-something approved!  It was a lot more fun that I was expecting.  The open world is great and there is always something catching your I to go after.

The Cow driver is pretty dope as well.

Part of me wanted to wait for DK to go on sale … $70 for a game is insane.  The positive user reviews made me decide to go for it because Nintendo could wait a year before a sale … Mario plays the long game for extracting maximum gold coins from our pockets unlike most developers that panic and put their games on sale 2 months after launch.

It seems like a good game from the get-go, although I’m not seeing a $70 “Must Play” or “10/10” from my initial few hours.  I think the launch hype of the Switch 2 and lack of Switch 2 games are inflating opinions.  S-Tier would be Zelda BOTW or Super Mario Galaxy.  This feels more A-Tier, which still speaks high praise.

Kids will LOVE this game.  7 year old approved on my end. Anyone that gets slight finger pain from mashing buttons will not enjoy as much for extended sessions ...

Ubisoft CEO blames gamers for Star Wars Outlaws not selling well.   He also blamed the Star Wars brand for not having the allure it once had.

In other news, Star Wars Battlefront 2, which was released in 2017, was the 12th best selling game last month ….

Atari has a Pac Man edition 2600 up for pre-order:

Looks pretty sweet!  I still have a lot of Atari games that this can play, so I plucked down for a pre-order.  It also has HDMI output.

Started playing Metal Gear Solid 5 after putting it off for a decade ... game is good!  Even holds up graphics wise.  I got put off originally because the game kinda drops you into Afghanistan without much hand-holding ... I kinda appreciate the non hand holding after a decade of games that basically point at what you need to do.

Not a good year for AAA releases, but a few indie games have caught my attention:

    Terminator 2D: No Fate

He-Man & The Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction

    SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance

Final Fantasy Tactics remake comes out next Tuesday.  I'm looking forward to this one and did a rare preorder.  I played it on the PSP years ago and it is not an easy game, but there look to be some quality of life improvements, such as saving mid-battle, which will help

Ghost of Yotie looks pretty good, but I've yet to beat the first game so I can wait a few years for a 75% off sale on this one.  I'm trying to make it a point to beat games before buying the sequel.

Gonna wait of Metal Gear Snake Eater for a discount after Xmas, as when I will consider most the new games

Plants Vs Zombies: Replanted comes out October 23rd with 2 player co-op, so looking forward to playing this with the kids.

Been playing "Black" on the PS2 lately. First person shooter with reactive environments and pretty much everything explodes. It's pretty impressive for coming out in '06.

Also, I found a copy of Samurai Shodown Anthology for the Wii. I have fond memories of playing that NeoGeo classic in the arcade when I was a kid.

Not many things trigger nostalgic memories from the 80's and 90's like those old school games.

Well, watching Battlefield 6 footage got me to order it.  Looks awesome!  Although let me think of how Battlefield games have left me feeling post Bad Company's release in 2008 ...

    oh, yeah ...

    I'm a glutton for punishment.

I'm skipping Ghost of Yotei.  Watching footage, it looks pretty but it also looks like the original game released on the PS4.  It looks like a $70 DLC to the PS4 original, which makes sense based on its reported small (comparatively) production budget.
