So I have finally reached a point where I do not care about new beers. I don't want to be let down or have another west coast ipa that tastes like all the others. There is only so much you can do w a beer, though I did have a sour IPA that raised my eyebrows. It was good.

So

I look for 3 beers now. Elysian Space Dust, Save The Robots and Ballast Points Sculpin. I hate being let down by beers or just drinking something that 500 other brewers came up with and think they were the first.

Thoughts?

Elysian Space Dust is great. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Bell’s Two Hearted are in steady rotation as well. I agree trying new IPAs/hazy can be tedious, but I love trying new beers. Anytime I’m in a new city I want to see what they have in terms of light beers (pilsner, kölsch, lager) to sours and stouts.

Been in the craft beer game a long time. Used to chase a bunch and even trade/ship beers.

I still try new stuff all the time, but have limited it to some breweries that I love. Otherwise, I try and drink local. So when I travel, try to make it local (or something regional that I cannot get easily where I am). When I am at home, it's a few breweries I just love (like Toppling Goliath and Other Half) or just local.

I still make specific trips with friends to cities/regions for beer though. Couple of great friends and I hit the Boston/Vermont area last year to go back to Treehouse mostly, but also Hills Farmstead, breweries in Burlington and those between Burlington and Boston. So much fun.

I've pretty much abandoned IPAs all together. I used to drink them all the time.

I do still like Zombie Dust (a pale ale) when I see it on tap but I tend to stick to the lighter lagers and pilsners.

A decent sized Indianapolis brewer (Bier Brewery) has some great options and also really good food.

I'll try new stuff. usually when I travel. But I've fallen into my age where I have my go toos and go too brewery (Half Acre) and I'm fine with that. I'm trying to drink less anyway.

New BCSs look good. I'll be all over that Chocolate Praline

I hope to get to try Toppling Goliath and Pliny the Elder one day, heard and read both are phenomenal so I’m jealous of anyone that gets to have those regularly.

Ive had Pliny, heady topper, 3 Floyds, Jester, you name it. It was fun.

Back when I traveled for work and craft brewing wasn't even a real term yet, I would scour the shelves at distributors seeing the new beers I could try or visit the local brewery to try their beers out.

It used to be I had to search for something I haven't tried. Now? There is always something new to try, often too much.

I still look forward to buying a few CBCS on black Friday and aging them for a year.

Pretty much the same. There are a couple around d Chicagoland I'd like to try. But I'm close enough that I feel they should be distributing to my area. Since they aren't, their loss in revenue. I wanted to go to Tree House last year, but we jist couldn't swing it.

But I'm not longer trying new stuff from liquor stores at this point. There is no sense on gambling and my favorite beer is brewed locally. When I travel, I explore with their local crafts. But I'm not chasing anything.

Toppling Goliath makes really good IPAs. But, and to be perfectly honest, they brew inside a particular box and rarely venture outside of it. If and when you can get it I recommend the DDH varietals of the King Sue and Pseudo Sue.

As for Pliny I can walk into my local Whole Foods or specialty liqour store and find it on a regular basis. I bought it recently along with the DDH Elder to do a side by side. I prefer the DDH, which I have had on tap previously, but it is not a regular release. If and when you find Russian River look for Blind Pig as well.

TG also makes the best non-BA stout ever and a crazy amount of terrific BA stouts.

pliny’s all great. Agree on blind pig…very good. I also agree in that for the most part, for my taste, DDH versions are always better.
