I built an outhouse in the backyard for this reason.
Huh, you built a whole enclosed structure? I just dug a hole and put a piece of plywood over it when not in use. Beats throwing it out the 2nd floor window every morning.
It's a hopeless situation...

But if it’s a need to keep score and the point is to say, "look Obama and Biden too", then fine. Obama and Biden too were wrong.
If it’s always wrong, is it wrong in jail, prisons and drunk tanks too? Because that’s been common use for about 75 years there. But I’ve yet to hear a single member of congress complain about someone in a drum tank washing their hands where they poop. One reason it seemed so out of place to play the race card and call me racist. I’m not saying immigrants deserve less, I’m saying it’s been common practice for a very long time. And only now, and only for ICE detention centers is anyone complaining about it. If it’s wrong and inhumane, then it’s wrong for everyone, right?
Now a lot of people took my comment on the sinks to say I’m normalizing everything Trump is doing. I’ll say it for about the 6th time, I’m not. I don’t agree with his rhetoric, the round ups, the mass deportation, the concept of alligator Alcatraz, etc. But when the main complaint I keep saying is calling them cages and saying they poop and brush their teeth in the same unit, when they haven’t said anything about it in the last 15 years, I can’t help but roll my eyes at those comments.
By your logic when Obama & Biden were doing the same thing I ask why didn’t the GOP hierarchy cry foul? Like the Democrats are doing now? Could it be they don’t give a fuck how immigrants are treated so if they were it’s all good?
You’ve missed the point and that’s an easy answer. They didn’t cry foul because there isn’t anything inherently wrong with using those combo sinks. That’s why they’ve been used for decades in several different capacities. Why do people only complain when it’s an ice detention center and only when Trump is in office? If it’s that bad, go stand up for the jails, prisons and any other place that uses the same thing.
It’s hard to take a politician seriously when they show up on tv in tears saying people and brushing their teeth out of the toilet when they’ve never said a word about it before. That’s the one complaint I hear more than any other.
And, to be absolutely clear again, I disagree with a lot of the other things going on. But the complaint I hear most is about those combo sinks.
Better yet, write a check to Uncle Sam. Start a go fund me. Put their money where their mouths are. Demand better and pay for it. Taxes solves everything. Mamdani for prez. They only yell when it’s the Rs doing it because they’re hoping to score political points. Otherwise they’d be yelling at Biden. Which they should do, He’s the one that brought us trump2
Fuck the toilet & sinks for fucks sake that’s not what is horrible! I’m sure at Riker’s they get to go outside I’m positive there’s not 32 inmates per cell they get to use their phones and your not crapping in front of 30 inmates!
jesus greets me looks just like me ....

No phones. Hard beds, crappy bedding, bad shoes, and the worst food you will ever eat. You do not want to be incarcerated. Scary that some people think the US is kind to inmates. Imagine what that means outside the US.

Did you watch her presser? Go ahead tell me how it makes sense for you to say this^^^^
Jose I built prisons for 15 years. This isn't anything new or obscene. We installed these as common industry practice. Again, this congresswoman must have her sink in another room from her toilet. My toilets are next to my sinks as I'm sure yours are too. Jose I am used to this, nothing new to me. Below is a typical combi unit. This is the uproar. Below that is a toilet right next to a sink in a house that is typical for millions of people... Imagine people at home brushing their teeth where they poop... It's a bullshit uproar. I still think the administration is going to get sued to the teeth for how they are apprehending people. They did this in NY a few years back and the counties paid out millions.
prison cell holds no more than 2.
how many are in these chain link cells at one time? not to mention no walls at all for some modicum of privacy.
County holding cells have many people in them. This has been going on forever.
Holding cell and prison cell are two different things but they both will have this same combi unit.
Is your sink next to your toilet?
county workhouse cell I was in , the separate toilet, next to the sink , was behind a wall , 4 ft high.
holding tanks had no facilities.
Must have been a long time ago. This is common practice now.
So is your toilet in your house next to your sink like most houses have?
did I make that argument against? hmmm?
Honestly I was expecting you to fall in line w everyone else. My apologies for thinking that.
my concern with that facility in particular and I expect it will be the same with the rest of them that will be built, is this was done extremely cheaply. blatant grift.
They claim its rated to a Cat2 hurricane. I call bullshit on its face.
health problems from the garuanteed insect bites, sure to come. reporting says lights on 24/7. assume l.e.d , so overall conditions detrimental to mental health.
lack of congressional oversight. both the turn a blind eye by the sycophants of fuckstick and the denial of those opposing legal right to entry at will.
then theres the reported probable damage to the ecosysyem that will be done.
I don't know if you remember when I posted about the tent city they made at Floyd Bennett Field over in Brooklyn? It's basically in the middle of nowhere and the outskirts of Brooklyn. They posted it for the Migrants and asylum seekers. They also made tents for them over on Randals island. The people in them weren't very happy considering they were putting people up in hotels.
What I am getting at is they were using the same thing pretty much here in NY.
I still think they get the balls sued off of them.
Environmental impact? If the people can't leave the facility and only stay on the grounds the ecosystem should stay in tact no?

it’s rigged in NYC, a place completely full of Ocasiocrats. Would love to call them Mamdanicrats, but thx to TS, they reminded us mamdani can’t ever be our potus.
it comes across as just the weirdest of bitterness
If that’s what you call fighting against the extremist direction of the party after a horrible loss, in a direction that’s never proven itself (especially in the places Dems have been losing ground the last ten years), within a sea of blind loyalist bias, so be it
But their policies are popular. Could it be that they haven't proven themselves (other than where they have) because the Democratic establishment (the ones who HAVE been losing) want to aim for the middle with limp policy?

"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
Lol ever heard of the New Deal? Very popular socialist policies that were beloved for years until they were distorted as bad by am radio, neoliberalism and Milton freedmanites. When the types of policies that progressives propose are put into effect they are very popular, the problem has always been misinformation and gate keeping.

I mean, look at all the attacks (or lack of support) Mamdani has gotten from within his own party.

AI Overview
This observation—that certain Democratic policies might be popular with voters but fail to translate into widespread support for the party as a whole—is a complex and debated topic. Here's an analysis of potential reasons:
Messaging and communication issues:
Democrats are sometimes perceived as using language that is too academic, vague, or overly focused on "political correctness," making it difficult for some voters, particularly working-class individuals, to connect with the party's message.
There is also concern within the party about a lack of a clear, coherent message, with some believing there's too much focus on individual issues rather than a unifying theme, according to The New York Times.
Perceived disconnect from economic concerns:
Some voters feel Democrats are overly focused on cultural and social issues while not adequately addressing economic concerns like jobs, wages, and inflation that are paramount to everyday people.
Voters who supported former President Trump, for example, hoped he would lower prices and make their lives easier, highlighting a potential missed opportunity for Democrats to connect on these issues, notes The New York Times.
Overemphasis on identity politics:
Some working-class voters feel Democrats prioritize niche, identity-based groups, which can make them feel excluded rather than included in the party's broad message.
"Faculty lounge" problem:
Democrats are sometimes seen as judgmental, out-of-touch, and dismissive of individuals without elite education or progressive views, creating a perception of disconnect from mainstream voters.
Perception of being unresponsive to voters or compromising too easily:
Some Democrats feel the party isn't aggressively fighting for their interests, particularly in the face of strong opposition, according to NBC News.
Attachment to potentially unpopular institutions or figures:
While not explicitly stated as a cause of disconnect, the public's general dissatisfaction with both major parties is significant, with a quarter of Americans feeling neither party represents their interests, according to the Pew Research Center.
Additionally, both parties are viewed unfavorably by majorities of Americans.
Important considerations
Complexity of voter motivations: Voters are complex and can be influenced by a myriad of factors beyond a party's policy positions. Personal values, cultural connections, and perceptions of leadership all play a role in shaping voter preferences.
Partisan polarization: The increasing partisan polarization in the United States makes it challenging for voters to see common ground or even understand the motivations of those on the "other side," according to the Pew Research Center.
Effectiveness of "culture war" issues: While some argue that focusing on progressive social issues can be a disadvantage in certain contexts, others maintain that the debate is more nuanced, suggesting that the party's image might be impacting how these policies are perceived, rather than the policies themselves being inherently unpopular.
