What is people's take on looking up things online?

I remember as an 80s and 90s kid.  Not having internet.  You would have to grind out games, sometimes shitty games, and figure things out on your own.  Draw maps and take notes sometimes.  You would have to talk to other kids on the bus or at lunch and share information.  That was great.

But now, you can look online for the best/easiest stategies, maps, item location, etc.  Being a working stiff with kids it is a timesaver, but it feels like it ruins the experience a bit.

There were also game books/magazines and hot lines you could call for help in the golden age, so I feel like seeking help is okay. I try to figure things out, but if I start getting frustrated to the point of not enjoying the experience, I don’t mind looking online for answers. Life is too short and there are too many games in line to play to waste energy.
I remember calling the tip hotline a few times back in the day. Even the game guides didn't always cover everything. Got stuck in Shadow gate forever. That game tested my patience big time.
    It's a hopeless situation...
  • Clair obscur is an all timer for me. Highly recommend. Like BG3 it's an RPG turn base but will real time attacks from enemies that you have to parry or dodge. The timing part is tough at first, but you get the hang of it after a while. Incredibly beautiful game.

Anyone playing Nightreign?  I'm having a blast with it!  If so, hit me up and we can team up.

No Switch for me.  This is probably the first release that I got shut out on and to tell the truth I don't really care too much as I'm not a mario kart fanatic.  If they had a new Zelda game it may be a different story.  I put a request into Nintendo for a system so I will just wait for that.  I'm not scalping or playing the bot game on the internet.

Bought a Switch 2 this morning in a store (no pre-order, just on the shelves). Very surprised to see it there. Looking forward to trying the new Mario Kart with the family.

Damn, nice find! Please report back on Kart, I can’t wait to play it (whenever that may be).

$700 here in Canada for Switch 2 with Mario Kart?!?

That's absolute insanity.  Breath of the Wild for over $100!?!? I already have it on the Wii U and Switch!!

I have said it earlier, but I ended up buying a steam deck a few months ago instead of a Switch 2 preorder.

Soooooo happy I did that.  love this thing.  It is my favorite gaming tech.

What store did you get it at?

Just the local WalMart, but Best Buy had them too.

Not a huge gamer, so take this with a grain of salt, but the new Mario Kart is quite fun. 24 racers per Grand Prix, some new power ups, new characters, slightly different game dynamics (e.g. some starting a race from a rolling start) and interesting courses all makes for a rejuvenated feel to the game in my opinion (after a few hours of playing).

The other day, before 7AM, there were people legit camped outside my local Game Stop like it was a PJ show lol. And the store was giving out Red Bulls.

A buddy ordered a Switch 2 from Walmart, and it came with a can of Pringle and a Coke, which he did not order lol.

I'm waaaay out of the loop on video games. Haven't played them in years.

May your days be long, til kingdom come.

Played College Football 26 last night.

Pretty decent.  It is like a better presented version of last year's game.  It played pretty well with the one game I had.

A few complaints is the dynasty interface was a little annoying.  Lots of menu options, many of which I am not sure I will use.  It took me a bit of time to find my schedule.  A few annoying in-game graphics/screen wipes that didn't seem skippable too.  Even with the complaints (its very early and might just be a matter of getting used to it), I will always buy every NCAA football release, probably on both XBox and PS.

I really wish they had the draft class export to Madden like the past gen.

As an aside, some real noise about an NCAA hoops game(s).  Thats a long time coming.

DK Bonanza director is already noting there will be performance issues on the Switch 2 ... I thought this was originally designed for the Switch 1?  I think I'm waiting for this to go on sale.

I got my Switch 2 last Friday.   I got games transferred and downloaded overnight but was out of town over the weekend.  Got back last night and wasn't motivated to play it.  This is the least exciting Nintendo system I can recall.

The hardware felt good.  I like the bigger screen.  Ergonomics are much better.  Need to try the Zelda upgrades.

Its tough to release a system with so few games that are interesting.  I enjoyed playing my OG Switch when it first came out, but I don't think I've touched it once in years.  I would buy a Switch 2 today if they had some fun games to play.  Until that happens, I'm sticking to the PS5.

Still playing a bunch of Nightreign.  After as many runs I've done, it is getting a bit repetitive, but I'm still having fun.

I just recently acquired a PS3. Have a Nintendo Wii and a PS2 that haven't been played in probably 7 years. This one probably won't get much use either but at least I have it for a rainy day.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 are certainly outclassed by new tech but those systems and games are super cheap right now. The jump from the PS2 to the PS3 seems like a pretty massive leap to me. Still haven't scratched the surface of the 70-some games that this thing came with.
