Dude was in the band for three years over thirty years ago. Let it go.
For real. He’s also the least interesting drummer they had imo.
As a drummer my opinion is that he was their best... Absolute power house. Very technical.
Drummer here as well and I just always found his style the least interesting. But I could definitely understand your opinion. I do think he was the right guy for that time.

I actually cringe seeing videos from his days. Too loud and overwhelming the rest of the band. I get that may have been the right way at that time but never thought it would translate to later days of the band. Just my non-musically gifted opinion
The firing of Dave A. Will probably go down as the biggest unanswered question in PJ history.
we’ve had clues, quotes, and breadcrumbs. But after 30 years I still don’t know what the fuck really happened!?
Dave’s answered it for us.
What’s the reason?
He’s an annoying dweeb
?.. again. we still don't know the real reason. I wasn't looking for a smart ass response. i should have known better..
He’s annoying. The band didn’t mesh with him. They don’t need to share space with him. The “reason” is they didn’t want him in the band. It’s that simple.

Nah. More to it. We’ll never know the real reasons. And that’s ok.

Several. Dave said No Code and Yield wouldn’t have been made if he was in the band, which says different artistic direction. He didn’t want to have Ed be the leader of the band, and instead thought songwriting should be shared equally across all 5 members. He’s also said he thought Ed was a phony with his presentation to the media, both disposition and things such as fighting ticketmaster. These are all things he’s stated on FB so I’m not taking liberties.
There’s obvious personality dynamics as well. I read and watch a lot of interviews with musicians, and drummers tend to be the most humble in comparison to singers and guitarists. Professional drummers are quick to compliment others style and point out their own deficiencies. Not the case with Dave. He’s called Matt’s drumming “lackluster” and repeatedly posts videos of PJ with him, saying “this is how it should be played”. I get they didn’t explain why he was booted, but in the years since, he should’ve been able to put the pieces together.
The challenge is Dave A. was the drummer on 2 out 3 of the bands most popular albums, and when they were at the height of their popularity.
I don't think there's a snowball chance in hell he rejoins, but I think people underestimate that era of the band. I still don't think it was right he didn't get inducted.
Clearly his time in the band is passed, but I love the albums he drummed on, and his drums sound great.
He clearly wants in but knows it’s highly unlikely to happen. It’s a real shame how things went back then but I think he’s being too kind blaming it all on management and record labels.
exactly, I think its fairly clear there will have been much more to it than that at the time but folk often move forward with a selective memory. Surely it would be more palatable to recognise what went wrong, deal with that properly and then maybe work forward from there, self reflection could be quite a powerful tool. Ploughing ahead blaming everyone else and hoping the door might open again seems a little silly.
I actually think Dave could do a great job for the band again, but its just not going to happen in reality.

He wanted very different things from fame than the other guys, and in 1994 they were very, very famous. If you can’t fill in the blanks from there I don’t know what anyone can tell you. But I’m 100 percent certain no one from the band will ever elaborate further so use deductive reasoning or learn to live without an answer.
Glorified G is about Dave A, correct, or just a rumor?
It's an anti gun song that takes a couple shots at him. Great song.

I've always just assumed that Eddie just wanted Jack Irons in the band. In fact, if Jack wasn't playing with Eleven in 1991, I think he'd probably have been the guy right then and there.

^ 100%. That honestly closed the gap for me.
Remember back then they practically had to spend every day with each other, musically, personally, and professionally. If you can’t stand someone, that’s a lot of drain.
