Show a little love for L.A.

Los Angles. Sure, it has it's downsides, but so does every city. Lets not go there in this thread. Show us some love for L.A.!

I grew up down the peninsula from San Francisco and having relative who lived in the city, and later lived there for awhile myself. So when I was a kid, my Pop and I rooted for the Giants and "hated the damn Dodgers", but only said that as a playful rivalry. When you love the game like we did, a good healthy rivalry is all part of the fun. And I've actually always had a lot of respect for L.A. and the greater L.A. area, and have had family and friends there as well. My wife spent half her childhood there! For all it's faults (and what city doesn't have them), it's a great place, and a great part of the amazing state that is California (but don't worry, I love a lot of other states as well).

So yeah, though it may not be my #1 city, I can definitely say, "I love L.A." !

I’ve only been in LA once in 83 for the US festival we spent about a week getting was to intoxicated to even remember all of what we did

I've been to L.A. many times and love to visit. But could never live there due to the smog and the traffic.
When I went last year I finally did the hike up to and above the Hollywood sign. Highly recommend.

LA is nice in a lot of areas, but the people that live there have ruined it for the most part.

I grew up in Northern California so you always have a "friendly" rivalry with the Southern part of the State. I went down there a few times growing up and then returned to go to Disneyland before we got out of the Navy, a wedding on Catalina and to the Ohana Encore. The parts I have been to I have enjoyed.

My Grandpa was a Dodger lover. This was during the Tommy Lasorta, Fernando Valenzuela era. He loved to go to Candlestick wearing a Dodgers hat. He got a lot of grief from the Giants fans, and loved every second of it, because the Dodgers usually won the majority of the games.

Wearing a Dodgers hat to Candlestick Park-- brave man, haha! My Pop took us a number of times to Candlestick to see the Dodgers when they came up. Always a great rivalry.

"friendly" rivalry is spot on! We "hated" the Dodgers, but only in a friendly way (if that makes sense, lol). I mean, how could one not love watching Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, or Fernando Valenzuela pitch, or watch Steve Garvey or Mike Piazza hit and play in the field. Amazing! Yeah, good times!

Another thing I like about L.A. is the coastline. It's very different from our coastal areas here in NorCal. Much more tropical. I love them both, really. And all the great music and excellent films made in and around L.A. That, and my favorite TV shows that were filmed down there- things like The Rockford Files and Columbo.

LA has some cool sights to see in the county, its huge but, living in the rural desert an hour away I preferred that. 3rd street promenade, Vazquez rocks and Venice will be some of my fav LA places to visit. Zuma beach was nice too.

Zuma Beach, yeah!

I like the desert areas to the east as well. Though obviously closer to San Diego and maybe a little off-topic, Anza-Borrego is amazing.
