Yeah, totally normal. No tariffs, just exchange. Not sure why it gave me a chuckle. Maybe cuz it wasn’t “actual” exchange. It was in CDN funds. Imickeyrat said:HughFreakingDillon said:

My friend's tinnitus has been flaring up since Sessanta* & he can't make QOTSA N2 in Boston... we have an extra GA available for face value if anyone's interested.
* Protect your hearing folks... he says he can't hear his own voice over the ringing... it sounds awful and at the moment, it's so severe he's convinced he won't ever be able to enjoy a full concert again.0 -
Damn that’s awful. Sorry to hear that.Merkin Baller said:My friend's tinnitus has been flaring up since Sessanta* & he can't make QOTSA N2 in Boston... we have an extra GA available for face value if anyone's interested.

Me too, it sounds terrible. This has me counting my blessings that my hearing isn’t worse after all these years… I’ve been smarter in the last 20+ years, but in the ‘90s hearing protection was the last thing on my mind.nicknyr15 said:

Yea dude. I’ve never brought earplugs to shows but always used them when jamming. I also started using them about 4 years ago while surfing. I go about 3-5 times a week from spring to fall and all that water is terrible for your ears. I started bringing them to shows this year for the first time.Merkin Baller said:

I started using over the ear protection when practicing w/ my buddies in a small space around '01 / '02. Since then I've been pretty damn good about it while playing.nicknyr15 said:

9/10 times I at least bring ear plugs to shows with me... I don't always use them, I see how it goes, but sometimes I'm REALLY happy to have them on me.

Never go to a concert without earplugs. I recommend Etymotic Research, like $15 on Amazon.Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

I'm sorry about your friend, man. I went to a show at Great Scott 10 or 15 years ago and had my ears pulverized. Was in meetings the next day and if more than one person was speaking at a time it was white noise. Scared the shit out of me and have had ear plugs ever since. It's like you said - I don't always use them but many, many times where I'm so glad I had them.Merkin Baller said:

Thanks, me too. He's super depressed as any of us would be at the prospect of losing the ability to enjoy live shows. It's awful.pjl44 said:

I struggle myself if there's any sort of background noise... if I go to dinner and there's an open kitchen behind me, I can't hear the conversation at the table in front of me. It's brutal.0 -

The loudest show I ever saw, not in a good way, was Metallica at the new Nassau coliseum years ago. So loud I could barely enjoy it.HughFreakingDillon said:friend of mine hasn't been to a live show since his last Metallica show. Tinnitus from that show.0 -
My loudest show was Pearl Jam in Brooklyn in 2013. I couldn't believe the volume. They played Footsteps and Eddie's harmonica was piercing my brain. In fact, the softer songs like that were actually harder on my ears that the louder songs because Eddie's voice was just wayyyyyy too loud on those songs.nicknyr15 said:

My first concert ever was PJ at Soldier Field, so volume wasnt an issue (outdoors, far from stacks) and I had no idea at that time anyways. My second show was Soundgarden at the Aragon Brawlroom in 1996 and I haven't been to a show without earplugs since then. I have now been to over 900 concerts and I have zero tinnitus issues, thankfully. As a taper, I love being as close to the stacks as possible. I honestly don't understand how anyone enjoys a show without earplugs...it sounds so much better with earplugs. Am I alone here?Zod said:HughFreakingDillon said:friend of mine hasn't been to a live show since his last Metallica show. Tinnitus from that show.

It’s not diagnosed, but I think I have it in my right ear from Nirvana in ‘93… being a stupid 16yp, I didn’t really care that I was right in front of the speakers, I had rail about 15’ to KN’s left. That ear rang for 3 days straight. It definitely flares up now & again, but nowhere near as bad as my friend has described having it. I’m lucky I don’t have it worse, the more I think about it.Back to thread integrity… is anyone getting the Catacombs stream?0

Hell yeah! Haven't ordered yet, but I'm on a flight Thursday night so looking forward to the download option and watching on the plane.Merkin Baller said:Back to thread integrity… is anyone getting the Catacombs stream?

I’ll probably order, but don’t expect to have much time to watch; at least not before seeing them next week what with HS graduations & family coming to town.given2fly23 said:
