This is my absolutly fav. song. This song stood out amoungest all thee others when I heard this song, it just moved me in such a way. Than I watched the D.V.D when they girl signs to the whole song and dances on stage with ed...uhhh this made my heart skip and now everytime I listen...my heart pitter patters in a undescribable way...
I wish I was the verb to trust, and never let you down...

My favourite PJ song also...that version on Touring Band 2000 is the best!!
But first he was stripped, and then he was stabbed
By faceless men, well f*****s... he still stands!

See you on the flip side!

have you ever read Jonathan Livingston Seagul? Its a very beautiful book written by Richard Bach, and Given to Fly reminds me a lot of that book... a must-read :)
Its like stargazing......sure there is a lot of black, but its the stars you are looking at.

Indeed, what a song! My boyfriend just showed me the DVD with Ed bringing the girl on stage to sign it. I've always found sign language beautiful, but that was so MOVING. Made me fall in love with the song, completely. How cool. Definitely my fave of the moment...but as I said, that will change...momentarilly.

I agree with most of the above, the bit where the girls signing on stage was cool. I have noticed that unlike many other bands, PJ seem to have no hang ups about image, sales, or being better than the next man (or woman!) but just enjoying the music!

In this day and age it makes a refreshing change.

Yield is my fav pj album and Given to Fly my fav song on that album and probably one of my fav songs of all their albums. II love when they sing it at a show.
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

Ahhhh yes, the anthemic Given to Fly! Always been one of my favourites.

I used to love the Perth version from the tour last year, and then i heard the Toronto version and it became my new favourite! Absolutely mind-blowing performance of an already fantastic song. When i listen to it i'm transported to another world high up in the heavens, and i really do feel like i'm flying. It brings me such a wonderful feeling of relaxation, enlightenment, freedom. If only life could feel like that all the time.

I love the way it starts off fairly quiet and builds and builds to an unstoppable climax....."A wave came crashing like a fist to your jaw...", at that point it really does feel like a huge wave just came crashing. It's so damn powerful!!!

"First he was stripped, then he was stabbed by faceless men, well fuckers...he still stands". I just LOVE how Eddie sings that one.
