What makes you love pearljam

Hi me again. I love pearljam more than anyother band on the planet. My question is what makes pearljam, pearljam. For me its the connection. It feels like he is singing to me and me alone. No other music has done this for me and wanted your veiws.

    Im on similar lines to you JesterTGame.

    I feel like the songs are me, Yield especially.

    The way that album sounds is how I FEEL, does that make any sense?

    I think in the first place it was the music :)

    But it's the whole attitude

    - the fan club and all other things they do for their fans.
    - their live shows, although I'm still waiting for my first, I'm amazed by their live bootlegs. And diverse setlists. And special guests. And quality and lenght of the shows, ...
    - their attitude and their willingness to stand up for causes they want to support and try to do something about it. Ticketmaster, Voters for Choice, Vote for Change, Bridge School, Benaroya, ...
    - In a certain way the things they have been through and the way they handled and survived it made me love them even more. Ticketmaster, the enormeous popularity in the beginning, Cobain, Roskilde, ...
    - The Lyrics, no need to say Eddie (and others) often touches sensitive subjects and that he does it in great style.
    - the democracy in the band. It's not Eddie Vedder & the Pearl Jams or something like that. Or Stone's band.

    I started as a soft fan. I loved Ten and Vs., but didn't really listen to the lyrics closely enough to appreciate how really great many of the songs were.

    It all turned after the first live show. I started to get much more interested in the band. Then I started reading lyrics to all of the songs and it put me over the top. It's cliche to say, but SO many of the songs that never hit the radio are as good as anything that gets regular airplay.

    I'd say the reason I think they're the best is tha amazing live shows with lyrics that are so underrated it's not even funny. PJ has managed to keep from becoming a pop band like so many others did.

    Thats the best thing though pearl jam offers bliss through unexpected avenues. I have been listening to pj for a short time now say about 9 years and only after 6 did i get this whole new understanding of pj. It was golden before but now i relly hear the sounds,emotions and feeling pumping from eddies voice.

    What other bands do you know who fought the big guys so their fans didnt have to pay as much to see their shows?
    They have always stood up for what they belive to be right!

    I am so on the same page as you Jester.

    Every song is sung to me, for me, about me.

    I can related every word to some aspect of my life.

    Pj is the perfect drug.

    (Eddie's hotness definately doesn't hurt either! ;) )

    I like PJ for several reasons...

    I like their lyrics, the Band that they are (attitude).

    In their songs, I can found me. When I listen them, I can forget all the problems that I have. According to me, PJ is the BEST group.

    I'm agree with you Ed_Lvs_Me when you said that is the perfect drug!!!! I never took a best drug than PJ!!!!

    i love pearl jam beacuse the frickin rock my socks off.
    i am in a constant trace and am fueled by the ever amazing lyrics, the unbelieveable voice and the completeness that is pearl jam.

    Pearl Jam are still to this day the only band i have never gotten sick of listening to. the songs they have created always awake something inside me that lays dormant until i hear their music. then i am completly energised again.

    Why Pearl Jam is my favorite...

    They are, creative, sincere, talented, cool. They write songs that I can relate to and create just plan awesome songs. They are good guys, even though their political views are somewhat opposite of mine, I respect them for it. I feel everyone has a right to speak their mind. Eddie's good at it. :) Hell, Bu$hleaguer is one of my favorite songs, great song. (and I'm Pro-Bush and in the Army National Guard) I hope to see them live sometime & am looking forward to the new album.

    Out of my 15 favorite artists, PJ is my #1

    The music is phenomincal - the variety of songs they have...from soft,acoustic to hard rocking tunes, and everything in between. The live show can't be touched by any band, the variety in the setlist, the way that everyone is one big family - its very moving and Ive never met a group of people in my life as kind and caring as the jammers ive met. I dont know - Im just blown away and in love with this band.

    Cant remember who said it but i agree totally that pj cannot be beaten live. the emotion that comes out of the studio is just amaizing but when they are live WOW. and another thing. the guy that just said about his 15 favorite bands. u just about got mine aswell. add metallica and bush and you got the list with you know who ontop. ok love the posts guys gimme more.

    1) The poetry of the lyrics .. that ability to sum up intense feelings or a scene with just a few words.

    2) Eddie's ability to feel the lyrics, not just sing words.

    3) All the little extras .. not just plain guitar riffs and drumming.

    4) Mike's guitar solos
