Yeah, totally normal. No tariffs, just exchange. Not sure why it gave me a chuckle. Maybe cuz it wasn’t “actual” exchange. It was in CDN funds. I
imagine a few people in a room “so…Canada…4 bucks increase sound about right?”

    rest of room: shrugs

    four bucks it is!

My friend's tinnitus has been flaring up since Sessanta* & he can't make QOTSA N2 in Boston... we have an extra GA available for face value if anyone's interested.

    * Protect your hearing folks... he says he can't hear his own voice over the ringing... it sounds awful and at the moment, it's so severe he's convinced he won't ever be able to enjoy a full concert again.

Me too, it sounds terrible. This has me counting my blessings that my hearing isn’t worse after all these years… I’ve been smarter in the last 20+ years, but in the ‘90s hearing protection was the last thing on my mind.

Yea dude. I’ve never brought earplugs to shows but always used them when jamming. I also started using them about 4 years ago while surfing. I go about 3-5 times a week from spring to fall and all that water is terrible for your ears. I started bringing them to shows this year for the first time.

I started using over the ear protection when practicing w/ my buddies in a small space around '01 / '02. Since then I've been pretty damn good about it while playing.

9/10 times I at least bring ear plugs to shows with me... I don't always use them, I see how it goes, but sometimes I'm REALLY happy to have them on me.

Never go to a concert without earplugs. I recommend Etymotic Research, like $15 on Amazon.
Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

I'm sorry about your friend, man. I went to a show at Great Scott 10 or 15 years ago and had my ears pulverized. Was in meetings the next day and if more than one person was speaking at a time it was white noise. Scared the shit out of me and have had ear plugs ever since. It's like you said - I don't always use them but many, many times where I'm so glad I had them.

Thanks, me too. He's super depressed as any of us would be at the prospect of losing the ability to enjoy live shows. It's awful.

I struggle myself if there's any sort of background noise... if I go to dinner and there's an open kitchen behind me, I can't hear the conversation at the table in front of me. It's brutal.
