Much more recent than that 2018 tweet, Deion said there’s a list of five or so teams he wouldn’t let his son play for. Obviously Cleveland had to be on the list. But that’s when Deion thought his son would be a sought-after prospect. By round 5, I guess they’d be happy with anyone picking him.
I just find it hysterical that he dropped to the 5th round. Even more comical that he got picked by the Cleveland Browns.
What's worse? Getting picked by the Browns or not getting picked at all? Hahaha
Actually, I think being an undrafted free agent may be better. At least you can get tryouts with other teams. Now it’s either play for the Browns (bad) or be cut by the Browns (rock bottom).
Yup. As much as he slid in the draft it would have been better for him to just be a UDFA. More control and the chance at a big contract sooner if his play warrants that.

but he excused himself for tryouts with all teams in attendance,. isnt that what the combine is intended to be?

I could see Shadeur being the starter….his competition is not that great.

Seemed like he made a lot of good plays in college. But I'm not a scout. The prank call reminded me of when we were young - everyone was doing that shit.

The Browns 💯 on brand, picking the 2 QBs....to make 5 on roster, with the 3rd rounder not nearly as good as the 5th rounder.
Since they are on Browns, both likely to wash out.

I'm likely in the minority in that I think Sanders could be a very good pro.  Not liking the development opportunity with the Browns, but perhaps he is good enough to overcome that.

It has to be personality concerns.  Playing for his dad all these years was a great thing for him as far as publicity, but also probably the worst thing too.

I'm not sure i can see him dedicating himself and doing the work.  Many nfl teams seem to have the same concerns.

We will see.  If he wants to be the player he presents himself as maybe he can work to that.  NFL won't put up with nonsense from low draft pick.  He seemingly has 2 strikes against him already.
If he was on any team other than Browns, I would root for him to be a hit.  I'm sorta going to pull for him anyway,  in spite of Browns.

Stephen A thinks its collusion.  Really?  I recall only Kuiper thinking he was going in the first round.  The Giants gave him a playbook to study which he ignored.  I'm pretty sure the word got around the league so maybe not collusion but an agreement that he wasn't that good?

He will start for the Browns though, they are known for doing stupid shit w QB's.

Collusion would be all the owners agreeing among themselves not to draft him. I think owners and their GM’s made those decisions independent of the other owners e.g. “if Jerry wants him, WTF do we care?”

I was actually kind of surprised Jerry DIDN’T draft him!

I hope Sanders does well in the NFL, I do.  I just don't think it's going to happen considering the Browns' track record.

I think he would have to go to a perfect situation with a Vet QB in a solid organization to show him how to be a pro. There were a few spots I could see he brought in to learn and push the starter eventually like Dallas or Jax and they said 'nah'.

The fact that he fell to the 5th round tells me nobody thought highly of his ability to grasp being an NFL QB.  I watched a few games last season... I am not a scout, but I thought that he was nowhere near an NFL QB.  Add in him being a diva and he is Johnny Manziel.  Fits perfectly in Cleveland.

Drafting him at 5 is much different than Manziel.  That was a terrible pick.  This one has upside and maybe some trade value (either him or Gabriel).  But what I think this really does is neuter Deion from yapping in the media about his son.  Doesn't mean he won't, but as a 5th rounder, the family has much less leverage to cause a ruckus.

this UFL (like every other attempt at spring football) has no fucking chance. up against NBA and NHL payoffs and MLB? yeah, good luck with that.
