As long as you were more outraged about Trump not going to Biden's inauguration, have at it. Theres plenty of stuff to get outraged about everyday, I'm surprised this was worthy of a top.

But meh, I don't really care if she skipped. It’s not really a function of the position.

I agree that’s a fair reply. But at best she is going down to his level. From the woman who gave us “when they go low?” I expect better from her. It’s five minutes. She is one of the most recognized democrats to the middle and right. Be better.

and yes about that funny meme, I watch morning joe and Nicole daily for years, and is a one of the big reasons I am becoming alarmed how the left is responding to the trump crisis. They all just assumed MO was right here. No one dared pushed back 1%. The left is changing.
down to his level? fucking no
This is regarding a specific act. The justification provided is she did what he did. Childish and low. Exactly the opposite of what she preached to us as First Lady

who are you to deny fact? Fucking yes.
I'm not denying fact....I'm denying your "opinion"

“We can do it but they can’t.” Holy fick I don’t know what could be more childish.
Try reading comprehension. Was Michelle a past president? Nope. I also stated I didn’t care if malaria did it. That’s comparing apples to apples.

But please, do go on with your false equivalencies and bullshit.

Again, this is such a silly thing to bring up and be outraged over. But it is a weird standard you are holding a former First Lady to compared to an outgoing president in what’s supposed to be a peaceful exchange of power.

I’m kinda at the point where I’m beginning to think this whole bit across all the threads is some kind of social experiment pretending to be “disillusioned Dems”

The outgoing President refusing to attend the inauguration of his successor (first time since an ill Wilson stayed indoors 100 years prior) is not in any way shape or form the same as a former first lady from 3 terms prior not attending an inauguration. And you know that.

That was not my point. That was someone else defending her actions. My original comment was she has every right to skip it, but her defense 'I did this for me' is absurd. She's a former first lady. The expectation is that she is there. For 5 minutes. Although it's not the same thing that  Trump did, there's no reason to make Democrats look bad, which is exactly what she did

Politics is as much about playing good defense as it is about right and wrong. This is just handing a small victory to the other side for no damn reason

It wouldn't have shocked me if spouses of former presidents and Vice President Harris and Doug would've walked out during the inauguration speech. It was so freaking dark. I get the former presidents staying because of "tradition", but I imagine it took a lot for the others to remain on that stage. It'd probably be selfish on their part and minimal short-term fallout, so for that reason, I understand why Michelle declined to attend.

I think that line of thinking is flawed and puts an onus on one party (currently democrats) to stick with norms and traditions just because. In my opinion, it's political BS like that (Obama laughing with Trump and Biden welcoming him) that provides confirmation bias (for the right at least) that both sides are the same. People voted Trump because he broke those norms and didn't seem like a politician (he's worse in my opinion). He calls out people and makes fun of them, but they are the ones who look weak because they end up bending to his will (Rubio, Cruz, Graham, etc.). If dems being cordial and sticking to norms mattered, Trump wouldn't have been elected in the first place, and definitely not a second time. Are dems too radical or not radical enough because they won't buck traditions/decorum that Trump has proven don't mean much to voters.
    It's a hopeless situation...
