Binaural - Blu-ray Audio Disc Coming Soon

Looks like we'll be getting Binaural on Blu-ray Audio to commemorate the album's 25th anniversary.  Presumably it will include the Dolby Atmos mix that was briefly on Apple Music about a month or so ago before being quickly pulled.

UPC: 0198028872690

Here is one online retailer's product listing:
https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/poprock/detail/-/art/pearl-jam-binaural/hnum/12266562?lang=en

I'd imagine 10C will have an official announcement sometime in May closer to the actual anniversary date.

It was great to get the Vitalogy Dolby Atmos mix on Blu-ray Audio, and I hope that we'll get the remainder of the back catalog in this physical format.

I wish the band would do a proper deluxe reissue of Binaural. There were a lot of great outtakes and demos from that album that have still never seen a proper release.

It's almost criminal what we got instead of the original track listing.

Here is the original tracklisting that surfaced back in early 2000...
    1. "Breakerfall"
    2. "Insignificance"
    3. "Evacuation"
    4. "Letter to the Dead"
      • Later renamed to "Sad"
    5. "Rival"
    6. "Grievance"
    7. "Light Years"
    8. "Of the Girl"
    9. "Thin Air"
    10. "Nothing as It Seems"
    11. "Fatal"
    12. "Sleight of Hand"
    13. "Soon Forget"
    14. "In the Moonlight"
    15. "Parting Ways"
    16. "Education"

So I agree and disagree with your point.
    • This 16-track tracklisting is just too much.  Too many albums in the 90's/early 2000's just became bloated with too many tracks.  I love the restraints of a standard vinyl album.  45 minutes is about ideal.  I feel like a ton of albums from this era would've benefitted with the "less is more" attitude.
    • "Parting Ways" is the perfect closer.  "Education" after "Parting Ways"?  Get the fuck out of here.  And get rid of the stupid "typing" hidden track... "Parting Ways" fading out should be the closer on Binaural.
    • Pearl Jam historically has great tracks in slots 2 and 3.  "Gods' Dice" and "Evacuation", in my opinion have always hampered this album, especially in those early slots and back-to-back.
    • I don't think this 16-track album flows at all.

Gods' Dice and Evacuation are very underrated. I wouldn't mind an EP of those extra tracks

This was a very interesting time period for the band. After 4 straight albums produced by Brendan O'Brien, they decided they would go with Tchad Blake and a more experimental approach with binaural recording. When they heard Blake's mix of the album, they hit the panic button and brought O'Brien in to salvage what he could. Only fragments of Blake's mix remain, most notably in Of The Girl and the dog in Rival. It would be so interesting to hear Blake's mix of the entire album, but that will probably never happen.

I'm on your page. I believe Binaural suffered from a studio production that went sideways. Don't get me wrong, some cool sounds and songs. But even Eddie has said "that was a weird one". Of all their albums, I'm excited to hear what Josh does with it. Avocado would be next on my list of least best PJ studio productions.
