It came out in winter if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure I was cold in Seattle, that ucky wet chill business, when it came out. Wasn't it in December 1995 or so?

  • I was 13 during that winter. I remember getting the cd Christmas day and playing it non stop for months. It literally changed the way I looked at music.

I'm a nostalgic person anyways, but there isn't a time I hear a Vitalogy song without it bringing me back a little to that time in my life. Love it. My favorite cd ever, bar none.

I must say that I think Binural is the best Winter music. Also Strangest Tribe.

I totally agree. Songs like Nothing As It Seems, Thin Air, and the one that says it all to me... Of The Girl make Binaural a great record to listen to in the Winter time

My memory of first listening to this album takes me back to the summer holidays!

But in all honesty, it only really spoke to me (sounds cheesy but I can't think of another way to word it) around autumn and one of my best memories is listening to it on the bus, stuck in a traffic jam.

I love this album and I love that it reminds me of cold, blustery days.

It's definitely a winter warmer album for me :)

  • I agree. I tend to listen to different PJ albums during different seasons. Vitalogy and Binaural are more of winter albums for me. But in general I listen to more PJ in the winter than in the summer. Probably because i became a HUGE fan during the winter so I always listen to them during that time of year.

It was my christmas present, December 94. It had just came out. I was 17. It's a winter album, alright! I remember listening to Tremor Christ in a stormy dark sunday afternoon... The perfect scenario!

It was summer here when it came out. But it's a winter album for me too. Specially for those days when the sky covers with clouds, and it gets really dark, maybe at 11am. Thats the perfect moment to play your vitalogy.

  • Yes, "Vitalogy" is a winter album. For me, winter is a conteplative time (after the holiday rush of friends and family). I take stock of the year (no, not Jan 1) as it's played out and think about what has been happening in my life and the lives of people around me. Spring, Summer, that's when I go out and have some fun (not that I don't have fun in Winter). It's just that a cold, snowy, dreary day turns one inward. "Vitalogy" is perfect for that.
    Hope that made sense.

Kinda wanted to bump this since I'm in the Winter mood and listening to Vitalogy right now.

Nice observation. I actually think of Yield as being the 'winter' album. I don't know why, the songs just seem to fit the climate. Cold, crisp, clear and beautiful.

When it's snowing and I have this playing on my iPod, it's absolutely magical.

For winter in general though, I prefer "Ten" and "Vs."

It was so awesome to run outside when it was snowing and "Last Exit" started playing.

I like No Code better for late December and early January.
    I like Vitalogy around February.
