Underreported in America. Tesla is in deep shit in Canada. Fed govmnt was ending ecar rebates. Tesla reported sales of 8600 cars in 4 days, to claim $41M in rebates.
Cars were sold to a holding firm owned by.... Musk.
Rebates are not being paid. Government is likely suing Tesla Canada. Stay tuned._____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

I mean… if they’re legitimate sales, why shouldn’t the rebates need to be paid out? But then, I wonder if Tesla would discount the cars by the appropriate amount to equal the rebate out of the goodness of its heart? Surely the government won’t be issuing these rebates twice, not that I’m by any means close to an expert.mickeyrat said:Underreported in America. Tesla is in deep shit in Canada. I don't want to in anyway paint the USA in a bad light, but whys is your government made up of all these low-rent James Bond villain characters. How does that even happen.mickeyrat said:Underreported in America. Tesla is in deep shit in Canada. Fed govmnt was ending ecar rebates. Like with this. It just felt to obvious that it would be a scam by "Elon himself", but then ofc it is.
The people running SAAB never* tried to make a coup happen in Sweden.
* Can not exclude there being such plans by GM after they bought the company ofc.Post edited by Spiritual_Chaos on"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -

But do you think that's really the spirit of the rebate?benjs said:

I just did a return (the first I've seen) where the rebate was given back to the dealer and they dealer reduces the price of the vehicle rather than the customer waiting until they file their tax return to get the rebate back on their filing.
So in this case Musk's company is getting the money from the gov't and he still holds the vehicles. The VIN is what triggers the credit so he would then have to sell those cars without any rebate incentive but it's still a bit suspect.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

Did it work for that other company? I’m just trying to understand whether this has precedence before screaming “foul” from Tesla. To me, honestly, if Tesla does what you proposed, what’s the problem?Gern Blansten said:I just did a return (the first I've seen) where the rebate was given back to the dealer and they dealer reduces the price of the vehicle rather than the customer waiting until they file their tax return to get the rebate back on their filing.

Not saying it's illegal but the rebate is obviously for the consumer and to encourage individuals to buy EVs. If Musk comes in and buys all of the vehicles and takes the rebate it's just supplementing his cash flow and also overinflating his sales.benjs said:

If their program works like the US program then there would be no available rebate on those vehicles unless someone fraudulently changed the VINs.
So Musk (the richest man in the world?) is getting millions from the gov't. Will it benefit him? Maybe, maybe not.
Maybe Musk sees value there in buying a fleet of vehicles to give away to encourage people to vote like his million dollar giveaway in Wisconsin.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

All I’m trying to say is, if it’s not illegal, I would expect not just Elon Musk but any prudent business person to try to take advantage of this situation and do the same, if they could float the capitol.Gern Blansten said:

Musk is a big loser tonight. Trump isn’t going to like that. He’ll be sidelined soon. Political liability.0
