Delta Flight Nearly Collides With Air Force Jet: What To Know
A Delta Air Lines jet narrowly avoided a midair collision with a U.S. Air Force T-38 military aircraft on Friday.
Why It Matters
The incident took place just miles from Ronald Reagan Airport (DCA) in Washington D.C., where a deadly plane crash in January claimed 67 lives.
What To Know
Delta
Flight 2983, an Airbus A319 bound for Minneapolis-St. Paul, had just
taken off from DCA at around 3:15 p.m. when the Traffic Alert and
Collision Avoidance System, a cockpit warning system designed to prevent
midair collisions, issued a "resolution advisory" to signal that the
plane was on a potential collision course with another aircraft.
A
resolution advisory is a high-level warning that instructs pilots to
take immediate action—such as climbing or descending—to avoid a crash.

As Energy Secretary Chris Wright’s views have become more public, it suggests that he and the rest of Trump’s cabinet will embrace the premise of climate change but downplay its threat, even building a case that it is a benefit to society.

National security adviser Mike Waltz’s team regularly set up chats on Signal to coordinate official work on issues including Ukraine, China, Gaza, Middle East policy, Africa and Europe, according to four people who have been personally added to Signal chats.
Two of the people said they were in or have direct knowledge of at least 20 such chats. All four said they saw instances of sensitive information being discussed.

“It was commonplace to stand up chats on any given national security topic,” said one of the people involved in the chats, adding that the groups often included Cabinet members and high-level staff.
All four of the people were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the private chats.
Veteran national security officials have warned the practice potentially violates regulations on protecting sensitive national security information from foreign adversaries, and federal recordkeeping laws if the chats are automatically deleted.

And to know that some are all in on the authoritarianism occurring before our eyes. Speaking of which, where’s Randy Paul and all those libertarians at?
I was a British tourist trying to leave the US. Then I was detained, shackled and sent to an immigration detention centre’
Graphic artist Rebecca Burke was on the trip of a lifetime. But as she tried to leave the US she was stopped, interrogated and branded an illegal alien by ICE. Now back home, she tells others thinking of going to Trump’s America: don’t do it
Just before the graphic artist Rebecca Burke left Seattle to travel to Vancouver, Canada, on 26 February, she posted an image of a rough comic to Instagram. “One part of travelling that I love is seeing glimpses of other lives,” read the bubble in the first panel, above sketches of cosy homes: crossword puzzle books, house plants, a lit candle, a steaming kettle on a gas stove. Burke had seen plenty of glimpses of other lives over the six weeks she had been backpacking in the US. She had been travelling on her own, staying on homestays free of charge in exchange for doing household chores, drawing as she went. For Burke, 28, it was absolute freedom.
Within hours of posting that drawing, Burke got to see a much darker side of life in America, and far more than a glimpse. When she tried to cross into Canada, Canadian border officials told her that her living arrangements meant she should be travelling on a work visa, not a tourist one. They sent her back to the US, where American officials classed her as an illegal alien. She was shackled and transported to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) detention centre, where she was locked up for 19 days – even though she had money to pay for a flight home, and was desperate to leave the US.
Burke had arrived in the US during the Biden administration, only to become one of 32,809 people to be arrested by Ice during the first 50 days of Donald Trump’s presidency. Since February, several young foreign nationals have been incarcerated in Ice detention centres for seemingly little reason and held for weeks, including Germans Lucas Sielaff, Fabian Schmidt and Jessica Brösche. (Brösche, 26, spent more than a month in detention, including eight days in solitary confinement.) Unlike these other cases, Burke had been trying to leave the US, rather than enter it, when she was detained for nearly three weeks.
I had been following news of Burke’s trip since she arrived in the US on 7 January. To me and my family, Burke is Becky, our neighbour and, for two and a half years, the person who took care of my kids after school. Her London home was only five doors down from us, but we met online, through a website that matches families with people offering childcare. Becky spent her mornings as a graphic artist and comic-book editor, and her afternoons collecting my son and daughter from primary school and entertaining them back at my place, making them snacks and refereeing their squabbles. Best of all, she drew with them. When my daughter turned seven, she asked if she could have a comic-making party; all her friends went home with little zines Becky had helped them make. We felt so lucky to have her in our lives.

Most large banks, while being annoyed by the CFPB with their rules that seem disconnected from reality, prefer an environment where a federal agency is rulemaking for the entire country. What will happen is that AGs will move to rulemaking and CIDs creating chaos and difficulty managing to varied rule sets.
And the CFPB did a decent (not great) job at weeding out bad actors. Unfortunately there are a ton of start-up BNPL, payday lenders and others that have launched and the CFPB could not keep up. Now they will run truly amok with no worries about consumer protection laws.

I watched the full story this morning. I mean, it's what we all already thought was the case, but now that the details are getting out it's the most blatantly disgusting and vile of human rights violations imaginable. Yet they continue to try and hide behind legal BS. If it was legit, they'd have no problem showing the facts supporting their claims, but they can't so they'll just continue to stall as long as possible hoping people forget or write it off.

The govt appears to be 100% wrong with the MD resident deported to El Salvador , and Robert’s just issued a “terse” statement removing midnight deadline lower court issued to have him brought back.
Not sure what the liberal expectations are regarding upcoming immigration cases, it is well know how this court behaves. To get a better court, in 2026 Democrats need to hold four D senate seats in battleground states, Two of these states lean R, let alone win four republican seats for a senate majority
without the senate the dems may never get to appoint a fourth liberal justice in our lifetime., let alone a fifth. And ten house seats and electoral votes are moving to R states next census.
the situation is dire and the dem party is living fantasies regarding what middle America will tolerate. That’s why we are facing situations like this.

I’m not nervous about some long term coalition realignment here. I think Trump just burned all of his political capital in one giant shitburger.
I also don’t think the world supply chain routes are going to be realigned. If anything the US will be ostracized for the term and the next president will undo this. That’s assuming the recession doesn’t embolden (or flip) Congress before that.
There’s no classes on how to navigate through what we’re experiencing as a country! We have an administration willing to stomp the middle class this is all premeditated and planned out we’ve known all along this would happen.

Man, I remember five years ago when we completely agreed the likes of sanders and warren were far too left to be competitive in national elections. Things have certainly changed. Yeah, The tariffs are horrible. Lost a ton. Probably retiring soon. But We don’t know how that story ends yet. Every time trump is backed into a corner, he comes out ahead, except once. I am referring to structural problems the dems are having with the electorate. For which there are no good answers, despite the amt sarcasm.
whats the path to win the senate? As I said, 2026 is daunting. Sure dems take the house in midterms, there’s your big win, let’s do the Reel, but not much can be done to influence or shape the court with that. And they can’t pass any laws with a divided congress and a R president. So haha, we are great. Keep dancing, enjoy the house. Senate 2028 is even at best, judging by the seats up. The problem is, without those OH MT WV seats, there is a long term problem in the future of the senate, and the senate controls the court, as McConnell proved.
and those ten house seats and electoral votes going south. It’s not just the loss of the seats. People are voting with their a$$es. Dem policies aren’t working. Housing is too expensive among other problems. People are leaving blue states, and we are smug. The dem party is too busy with its darlings, the two topics I point out endlessly. The far left positions on dei and Palestine could not be any more unamerican. But yeah, let’s win voters back with that attitude. They view us as elitists, unrealistic and unamerican. Prove them right.
According to the Institute for Policy Integrity, Trump’s administration has failed nearly 93% of the time when its agency actions have been challenged in court — typically for violations of the Administrative Procedure Act (APA).
Sure, comes out ahead. So much winning.

And the CFPB did a decent (not great) job at weeding out bad actors. Unfortunately there are a ton of start-up BNPL, payday lenders and others that have launched and the CFPB could not keep up. Now they will run truly amok with no worries about consumer protection laws.

That’s why we are facing situations like this.
whats the path to win the senate?
Sure, comes out ahead. So much winning.

and then the blue wave, that historic midterm winning the house, president trump got punished in 2018, no way he recovers.
then Jan six. A resurrection. He’s getting impeached and removed forever!
Then he got indicted 1,993 times. He is certainly not getting any more votes.
then he lost that civil rape case. Yeah. He is done.
and a convicted felon. 34 times. Certainly he is done.
