Adolescence is so good! The fact that each episode is one shot is amazing.

I liked it as well. I knew there were some long shots, but did not realize it was only one shot.

The one-shot, real-time filming style really adds to the tension the whole way through. I thought it was fantastic, and the kid that played Jamie was phenomenal.
I really like Stephen Graham, and I thought he was great in this. Some of his close up scenes were so powerful.

I'd love to talk about adolescence more.  That to me, had some unanswered questions.

This is on my list to watch. One of my best friends was a grip for about 20 years. He did mostly shows, but a few movies and music videos. He'd always talk to me about his latest project. The amount of trouble they have to go through when the director wants 1 shot for a whole scene is sometimes insane, and I bet most of the time people don't even notice. The logistics behind all the moving parts, not just the actors not messing up ever. But I'm curious now about this one.

The behind-the-scenes posts that have popped up online are crazy to see. Cameras being passed seemlessly between cameramen, from downstairs to upstairs or even from inside to outside through a window; being attached to a drone for a few minutes then landing back in a cameraman’s hands without skipping a beat; long driving scenes… just unreal filmmaking.

I watched the first two episodes, and agree it's done well.

Yeah, that sort of stuff was exactly what I was talking about. Going from a moving car, to a shootout scene, to a car chase, to a closeup of  someone getting killed inside the car, etc, all in 1 cut. The camera work to be able to seamlessly transition all that in 1 take for something the average viewer probably doesn't even realize.
  • Too funny not to watch again, and again....

I am probably late to the party, but Super Duper, the Battle for Uber basically has a Pearl Jam soundtrack. Kyle Chandler and Joseph Gordon Levitt are excellent.

  • Watching Amy Schumer in Kinda Pregnant, it's really really funny.

The Residence. A detective solving a murder in the White House. Great cast and a lot of twists and turns.

    Just finished it last night
I thought episodes 3 and 4 filled in what I wanted to know.
The whole series was just okay to me. I really liked episodes 1 and 2, 3 and 4 were slow.
I think the whole one-shot thing hindered the show. It just pigeon holed each episode to 1-hour of real time and 1 location. You get 1 hour straight of part of the story, then it just skips ahead months to do another 1-hour segment. I think it would have been a better story if they just wrote it and filmed it like a typical show and you can spread the story throughout the entire process.

That's kind of where I'm at...it was good but 3-4 were slow. Still a very painful ending for a parent. Kind of reminded me of the end of Brokeback.

I recommend the series Defending Jacob on Apple+. Much better than Adolescence imo
