Corduroy....the jacket was brown corduroy, remember? That just occured to me. Apparently K-Mart, or Walmart (whatever it's called in the US) marketed a little kid's version of the jacket. Like the new 'grunge' look....but in an interview Eddie said he thought that was funny.

This is like my 'filling up' the tank song. I never even knew what the last line was 'til recently...and you know what? It was such a relief that someone wrote those simple words down in a song, you know? Cos it's the kind of thing a little kid will say when they've been hurt - just straight. Whereas when you're an adult you think you're supposed to speak differently when someone cuts you. You're supposed to be logical or something :). That's why I love Pearl Jam so much...cos the feelings and the music are so raw and honest too. Can't ask for much more than that. ;)

maybe not 'corduroy', but i'm positive 'last exit' was written from cobains point of view, and possibly 'not for you' as well.

Great song I was jamming with a few mates the other night and we played it about 3 times. Couldn't get enough of it. I know stone bought the jacket for Eddie in Amsterdam. I think it cost $12

  • corduroy is definitely one of my favourite songs in the pj catalogue. it was there when i first heard it, and it still remains there today. this songs just doesn't tire on me. even with the playing at almost every pj show i still don't get sick of it. in fact i would go so far as to say that if they didn't play it live i would probably be somewhat disappointed because, imho, it is their signature tune. kinda like jimmy buffett doing "margaritaville"

the reason i say it is a signature tune is mainly because of attitude. this tune has tons of attitude. pearl jam have always been about attitude. they have extremely strong beleifs and always stand up for something if they beleive it to be right. attitude is punk. pearl jam are punk. the lyrics are punk and the accompanying music is punk.

    punk rock lives today :)
  • Man this is THE perfect song.
