Exactly...I've been in a Rivian and it is a much better ride. I'm not sure how viable that company is though. But yeah I like the idea of the Tesla and the electronics are cool but they are shit. There is a guy in my hood that drives one of the refrigerators and he thinks it's great but it looks like a fingerprint covered refrig every time I see it.0 -
Yup, still overvalued. Elon spent hundreds of millions to lose hundreds of billions in market cap. Not a great investment.Lerxst1992 said:Down near 10% today.0 -
Reminds me of bad 80’s movies where a Rambo-ish character solders metal panels to the sides of his van when attacking the enemy.Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0

The reality is that their multiple should be priced like any automotive manufacturer. Yet, they have been priced like a tech company. At some point, your YOY sales, cash burn, same store sales, and other traditional automotive metrics matter. And I think that is coming now.Hawk123 said:

I agree. Although I have a few "arrogant prick" vehicles as well. They scream "former Nazi", not current one.Merkin Baller said:

Personally, I'm impressed with the Ford Fusion Hybrid. I was skeptical, but I bought a used 2018 and it's been great so far. I've been averaging 40 - 45 now that the weather is warming up. Sucks down to mid to high 30's in cold MN winter temps, but it's a smooth quiet ride for a modest 13k out of pocket. My only concern is durability. Hoping it can make it to 200k miles plus like all my previous foreign models. Last Ford I owned started taking a shit in the mid-100's before I ditched it at 175k.DE4173 said:

I think we are a ways away from it making sense to have a pure electric as your only ride. Hybrid makes perfect sense.tbergs said:

If people refer to Teslas as swasticars and Tesla owners as nazis because Musk is a nazi/nazi-apologist, yet they find GM and Ford are suitable alternatives as a result, is interesting.1993: 11/22 Little Rock

I won't assume what you are getting at with this since I am not 100% sure, but if it's about the history of the people who started those brands, ok, and? Unfortunately there are a lot of scenarios where shitty people/practices are attached to innovative and society altering products/concepts, but the question is, are they still that way presently or have they made changes? Probably around 10 -12 years ago I thought a Tesla seemed like a pretty great car having never ridden in one or looked in to their quality. The issue for me is that it was never affordable (still isn't) and going full electric was a challenge, even though my altruistic if I had all the money in the world self would have been all in because it seemed like the best option for minimizing environmental impact (not considering at the time the similar, if not worse, conundrum of the damaging effects of the mining for precious metals needed to power these beasts). Fast forward to today, and not only are there a myriad of quality concerns with a Tesla, but also the current owner/founder is an outright fascist Nazi sympathizer at best, or an actual Nazi in belief and values at worst. I wouldn't want to support any company or brand that was attached to such horrible moral/beliefs, practices and quality issues. I also fully recognize that I don't know about everything every other product/company may be doing I don't agree with so I may be unknowingly supporting something I wouldn't normally. The difference for me would come down to, once I knew, would I change it if it's within my control? And the answer is yes, yes I would because it matters to me.DE4173 said:If people refer to Teslas as swasticars and Tesla owners as nazis because Musk is a nazi/nazi-apologist, yet they find GM and Ford are suitable alternatives as a result, is interesting.
I think if you delve far enough in to most companies/products you will discover some unsavory truths and we as the consumer/customer need to decide whether that factors in to if that's a deal breaker. Seeing the election of Donald Trump (2x) and the (mostly) support for Musk's DOGE rampage, it seems many have decided to dial back moral/social accountability and the progress we saw on those fronts after "Me Too". There are still a lot of people who don't want their vile and repulsive personality/beliefs to be an obstacle to their financial success and for the past 10 years, at least in the USA, the people have showed that they also don't want it to be a barrier so we have, and will continue to see, people empowered to be POS. There was a large social/cultural resistance to the first Trump presidency because people (especially billionaires and the wealthy) didn't want to be seen as sympathizers to a morally bankrupt and corrupt president so they took the position that was most financially and personally benefitting. Now that he was elected again, you've seen those same people show their true colors and realize they no longer need to pretend to care about those things because the repercussions are minimal and it is working (for now) for the MAGA movement. I still believe that they will all pay the price for this, but it doesn't matter when you're a billionaire 100x over.
I'm sure we'll see a plethora of half-assed redemption tours 10 - 20 years from now by these clowns, much like what McConnell has been doing lately. I am all for forgiveness and granting a reprieve when people own their mistakes and apologize for their wrongs, but I am doubtful that will happen. Bush, Cheney and the like seemed to have waited it out long enough for many to forget their atrocities so why not today's current crop? They know time is on their side.
Edit: Forgot to add what I meant in that last paragraph.Post edited by tbergs onIt's a hopeless situation...0 -

My take is that it's shaming people that are Tesla owners. Yes, there is a resale value component to it, but if it was just that, than it'd be a much shorter document. My opinion is it's an attempt to create guilt for owning and pressure to sell in order to have a story of "everyone's selling their Tesla's for a negative story for Muskmickeyrat said:DE4173 said:mickeyrat said:

*I'm not a Tesla owner
So should anyone that owns a Tesla be okay receiving these?
seems rather helpful to me
so whats your take on it then? It's a Swasticar: Musk is a nazi / People are saying that Musk is a nazi so by owning this car you're a nazi too and your car is a PR disaster.Resale value: This is okay on it's own. This is the key for people to sell to hurt Tesla and MuskBetter EV options: Helpful to list options other than Tesla's. (Side note: Ford Mustang Mach-E? A car from the Henry Ford company? I'll spare any links to Henry's history). It ends with a final "act fast" push. My interpretation of the ending is: it's not your fault you bought a Tesla, but just a heads up it's now considered a Swasticar and you are a nazi too. Unless you sell it.tldr: You are complicit with nazi Musk to continue to own a Tesla. Sell it so we have data to show people are dumping them.
*I'm not an Elon Musk fanboi, nor do I approve of his and Doge's methods.
I totally agree with this. I'm not sure how relevant the point about Henry Ford is though, as much as I appreciate it. He's been dead a long time now.

Ford and GM completely re-tooled to a war time manufacturing economy once the war broke out. They both had market share in Germany in the pre-war days, before Volkswagen started. Henry Ford was clearly an Antisemite but I'm not aware of any specific GM sympathies other than trying to sell cars.DE4173 said:

I don't buy it. What I don't buy is that US based GM management maintained control of the GM factories after Dec 1941. There is absolutely no way that is true. They would have had no way to communicate with Germany without messages being intercepted. And there's no way FDR and Joint Chiefs would allow that. This article by the "Fifth Estate" isn't sourced in any way. I would bet they lost control after Sept 3rd.DE4173 said:0 -
I also don't quite understand your point. Are you arguing that we should be okay with Tesla because of what happened in the 30's with Ford and GM? That argument doesn't track in the least. Are you arguing that we should boycott Ford and GM today because of that? That's fine because ironically I drive BMW... who clearly helped in the war effort.0
